HUDSON VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING
DECEMBER 2, 2013
MEMBERS PRESENT: Angie Barker, Jeff Barker, Gowland Bass, Corey Clemens, Colton Foisie, Marcial Foisie, Verne Goodenough, Ronnie Hunter, Mark Loose, Frankie Ornduff, Caleb Ramsey, Shawn Ramsey, Brian Smith, Chris Smith, Jacob Smith, Mike Smith, Robert Smith, Willie Thomas, Michael Clemens (Explorer), Dustin Ramsey (Explorer).
1. Meeting called to order by President Robert Smith at 8:20 pm. Pledge to the American and Texas flags recited.
2. Motion to accept the November minutes by M. Foisie, seconded by G. Bass. M/C/U.
3. Motion to accept the Treasurer’s report made by C. Smith, seconded by F. Ornduff. M/C/U.
OLD BUSINESS:
1. B. Smith advised the department that the final total for the haunted house fundraiser was $30,035.
NEW BUSINESS:
1. B. Smith advised the department that there is a pine tree near the haunted house that is leaning and needs to be cut down. General discussion on what side of the property line the tree is on. B. Smith will talk to the neighboring property owner about the tree.
2. M. Stephens advised the department that he was going to get the replacement fenders for Brush 3 on Tuesday.
3. M. Stephens advised the department that Southern Safety Supply has a demo skid unit they are trying to sell at a significant discount. General discussion about the skid unit. Motion made by C. Smith to let the officers go look at it and purchase it if they feel it is what we need, seconded by M. Stephens. M/C/U.
4. F. Ornduff advised the department that we are still waiting on parts for the K12 that is in the shop.
5. Officer elections for 2014 were conducted with the following results:
A. Chief- Marcial Foisie the only nominee. Motion by C. Smith to elect by acclamation, seconded
by M. Stephens. M/C/U.
Marcial Foisie elected as 2014 Chief.
B. Assistant Chief- J. Barker-14 votes
C. Ramsey- withdrew
C. Smith-5 votes
Jeff Barker elected as 2014 Assistant Chief.
C. Fire Marshal- Gowland Bass the only nominee. Motion by M. Foisie to elect by acclamation, seconded by F. Ornduff. M/C/U.
Gowland Bass elected as 2014 Fire Marshal.
D. President- B. Smith- withdrew
R. Smith- Motion made by M. Stephens to elect by acclamation, seconded by F. Ornduff. M/C/U.
Robert Smith elected as 2014 President.
E. Vice President- R. Smith- ineligible
B. Smith- Motion made by M. Stephens to elect by acclamation, seconded by V. Goodenough. M/C/U.
Brian Smith elected as 2014 Vice President.
F. Secretary- M. Loose- withdrew
C. Ramsey- Motion made by C. Smith to elect by acclamation, seconded by M. Stephens. M/C/U.
Caleb Ramsey elected as 2014 Secretary.
G. Treasurer- C. Ramsey- ineligible
J. Barker- ineligible
S. Ramsey- 11 votes
J. Smith- 8 votes
Shawn Ramsey elected as 2014 Treasurer.
6. Secret ballots were cast by the members of the department for Firefighter of the Year, EMS Responder of the Year, and Rookie of the Year.
7. M. Foisie advised the department that family night would be on December 30th.
8. R. Smith advised the department that the City of Hudson would have their lighting ceremony on Friday at 6 pm at city hall.
9. R. Smith advised the department that the fire department Christmas banquet would be next Monday at 6:30 pm at Ralph and Kacoo’s.
10. C. Smith advised the department that the Sheriff’s department would be assuming dispatch duties on December 16th. Lufkin PD will be shadow dispatching until January 1st. On January 1st the Sheriff’s department will assume full responsibility for dispatching.
