HRRA tests artistic waters with PaintFest mural donation to St. Mary’s
NORFOLK—Hampton Roads REALTORS® Association (HRRA) Affiliates Council members gathered at St. Mary's Home in Norfolk this week to donate a six-panel mural created by REALTORS® and Affiliates during HRRA’s inaugural PaintFest.
The artwork, depicting an eye-popping underwater scene, was painted using a kit offered by the Foundation for Hospital Art, which seeks to provide comfort and hope to those in hospitals through artwork. In July, HRRA REALTOR® attendees paid to take part in the Affiliates Council-presented PaintFest, during which they lent their artistic talents to the canvases and networkedwith fellow REALTORS® and sponsoring Affiliate members. The event also raised funds for Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters.
Presenting the mural on behalf of HRRA were Affiliates Council chair Jessica Whitt and vice chair Bubba Fleming, fellow Affiliates Council members Matthew Frano, Bill Thomas and Carrie Williams, and Cindy Matthews, HRRA associate executive director. Accepting the mural for St. Mary's were CEO William Giermak, director of development Martha Stewart, early intervention technician Erin Vicinski and 3-year-old Iker, one of the home’s 100 residents. Fittingly, the tropical fish painting hangs above the aquarium in St. Mary's atrium.
