How was in Poland?

Our journeybeganon Tuesday 20thApril April in front of our school in Jablonec nad Nisou. We went by car to Železný Brod and from there we went by train to Czestochowa inPoland.

We arrived to Czestochowa at6.00 p.m. The teachers were waiting forusthere in the station. At 7.00 p.m. we had a meeting at school. The pupils Jakub Vrbata, Karolína Pavlištová, Kristýna Riegerová, Michaela Barborová, Anna Chmelařová, Zuzana Fejfarová, Adéla Nováková and Marek Dědekstayed at polish pupil‘s homes and we – - teachers Drahomíra Svobodová and Petra Mudrová at a hotel Wenecki inthe centreof Czestochowa.

The first day

21stApril on Wednesday we had welcome meeting at school from 9 a.m. We visited some classes and spoke with pupils and with teachers.


After lunch we visited Jasna Góra Monastery. The Jasna Góra Monastery in Czestochowa is the most famous shrine to the Virgin Mary in Poland andthe country’s greatest places of pilgrimage – for many its spiritual capital. The image of Black Madonna of Czestochowa, to which miraculous powers are attributed, is Jasna Góra’s most precious treasure.

The Jasna Gora’s tower is 106m high and you can see the whole city from there.

This day we visited a Museum of mining, too.

In the evening we had free time.

The second day

22nd April on Thursday we visited Krakow’s World-class Attraction, the Salt Mine ofWieliczka. Visitors nowadays walk underground for about 2,000 m in the oldest part ofthe salt mine and see its subterraneanmuseum but there we wasn’t. We saw there the subterranean world of labyrinthine passages, giant caverns, underground lakes and chapels with sculptures in the crystalline salt and rich ornamentation carved in the salt rock. The Chapel of Saint Kinga is the largest among underground chapels in the Wieliczka Salt mine.

That day we visited Krakow – the historical centre of this town and the castle Wawel, too. We had free time in the evening.

The third day

23rd April on Friday we had a meeting at school. In the morning we visited theMuseum of Matches, there we saw how were matches made, and the centre of the town Czestochowa, the historical museum of this town and the exhibition of animal’s photos. This day we had lunch at school.

In the afternoon we went on a trip to Olsztyn and visited the ancient castle and theregion.There we had got a barbecue.

On Saturday 24th April we arrived home.

All trips were beautiful. The teachers and children were very friendly and we had agreat time.
