“How To Succeed in Mr. Ball’s Class”

I Expect My Students To…

·  Arrive for class on time

·  Be prepared to learn (with all books, pens, materials, homework, assignments…)

·  RESPECT each other and themselves

·  LISTEN when another person is speaking

·  Strive to earn good grades and do their best work

·  Not to say “I can’t!”

·  Not to be afraid to say, “I don’t understand”, or “I need help.”

·  Demonstrate mature, proud and wise behaviour ALWAYS

·  Live up to my expectations

Specifics that will make our journey much smoother…

1.  It is preferable that you use a 3-ring binder for this class. This way hand-outs can be immediately placed securely in the binder and homework and assignments can easily be removed to hand in and replaced after they have been marked. Every page of notes, your assignments, etc. should have both your name and the date on them. English students should locate an Independent Reading novel of their choice immediately. Media Students will need a Media Journal.

2.  Your assignments should always be done with care and pride. You may type them if you wish, but neat, legible handwriting is perfectly fine as well. Please use blue or black ink for writing assignments. (Please also note the Late Assignment Policy!!!)

3.  There will be days when you will need to be absent from class. However, please be aware that it is YOUR responsibility to catch up on what you missed while you were away. Consult the class wiki at http://creativelife.wikispaces.com . Please see me IMMEDIATELY to get hand-outs, to re-schedule test and quizzes and pass in any assignments that may have been due while you were absent.

4.  There is a $2.00 Language Arts fee.

5.  For Media Studies students: please familiarize yourself with the Exemption Policy and be aware of how you may earn an exemption from the exam in this course.

6.  You may contact me at the following e-mail address:

7.  I am available for extra-help upon request (we can schedule a mutually acceptable time). See me in person or contact me by email.
