How to Setup Koala

Koala must have:

  1. INET Library
  2. Reset Utility
  3. Okanjo Merchant Software
  4. Activation Software
  5. Koala Utility

INET-Install.prc contains: INET Library and Reset Utility

Okanjo-Install.prc contains: Okanjo Merchant Software, Activation Software, and Koala Utility
Screen Utility

We provide you Koala Unit with all software installed. Please make sure everything is okay. Before you can use the Okanjo Merchant Software, use must follow this procedure:

  1. Make sure INET Library is installed correctly
  2. Make sure Okanjo Software is installed
  3. Set screen color to 16 colors / 4-bit (optional)
  4. Move software to correct categories (optional)
  5. Setup Modem (P-in m@aster) and Network
  6. Test Modem (P-in m@aster)
  7. Activate Okanjo Merchant Software

1a Make sure INET Library is installed correctly

Please see if INET library is installed:

The Wireless category must be in the list.

If it is not, you must install the INET-Install.prc software.

1b To Install INET Library…

  1. Hotsync and add INET-Install.prc to Koala.
  2. INET-Install.prc will appear in the Packages category.
  3. Click on the INET-Install icon
  4. Click the Rest button to rest the Koala – Wireless will now appear.

2a Make sure Okanjo Software is installed

Please see if Okanjo Software is installed.

It will be in the Okanjo Category.

The Okanjo Installation contains 4 types of software. Okanjo Merchant Software and Activation Software (Okanjo and User icons appear in Okanjo category), Koala Utility Software (Koala icon appears in Unfiled category), and Screen Software (Screen appears in Preferences menu with no icon).

2b To Install Okanjo Software…

  1. Hotsync and add Okanjo-Install.prc to Koala.
  2. Installation will start automatically after Hotsync is finished.
    You do not need to reset Koala.

3 Set screen color to 16 colors / 4-bit

You can set the Screen to 16 shades of gray. This will make the icons appear much better.

To change the Screen, Okanjo software must be installed from Step 2 above.

  1. Click on the Preferences Icon
  2. Select Screen from the list
  3. Change from 1-bit (default) to 4-bit

4 Move software to correct categories

When you install the INET and Okanjo software, you should put the icons in the correct categories. For example, the Reset icon can go to the Utility category. The Okanjo Merchant Software (Okanjo icon), Activation software (User icon), and Koala Utility software (Koala) can all go to the Okanjo directory.

To change the categories…

  1. In icon view, click on the Title or Menu button
  2. Select Change Category…
  3. Move the programs to the correct categories


5 Setup Modem (P-in m@aster) and Network

Once all the software is installed, please set up the Modem and Network.

  1. Set up Modem (see other documentation)
  2. Set up Network (see other documentation) –remember to set Timeout to Immediate!

6aTest Modem (P-in m@aster)

After the Modem and Network and Network are setup please test. Koala has many different connections and the Koala Utility can be used to setup the correct connection.

If you try to test the connection and get Modem not Found, it means you must set the correct port on the Koala. The Default is the PC Card.

To test the connection:

  1. Open Network Settings
  2. Click on Connect button.


6bUse the Koala Utility

Use the Koala Utility to make sure that the correct port is being used for the Modem. To change for the PC Card Slot, do the following.

  1. Go to the Okanjo Category
  2. Click on the Koala icon
  3. Select the PC Card Button
    If correctly selected, it will be black.

You can also set it up if you are using the Side Modem.

7 Activate Okanjo Merchant Software

Activation of a Merchant ID now uses a separate program called User.

You must use this software to Activate the Okanjo Merchant Software. In addition, the Options screen in the Okanjo Merchant Software no longer has a New Merchant Account button.

Note:

Koala activations require a 10 digit serial number (Palm activations require a 9 digit number). You will be given a 10 digit number for your account activation.

If you try to run the Okanjo Merchant Software before activation, it will exit.

To activate the Okanjo Merchant Software, please run the Activation (User) Program.
After your software is activated, click on the OK button or the Home Icon. You can then run the Okanjo Merchant Software
