How to Register in CITI – Human Subjects Protection Training

Please read the WRAIR Human Subjects Protection Education Policy at the following link. Appendix 1 of this policy states which CITI modules you should take based on your research role.

To Register for CITI, go to

Register as a new user using the "Register Here" link as shown below:

Choose "Walter Reed Army Institute of Research" from the drop down list as shown below. Then choose a username and a password to register.

Enter other required information such as your contact information.

The next screen asks you for some required information (in asterisk). The remainder of the questions is optional and you can fill them out or leave them blank.

The next screen allows you to choose which group you would like to join based on your research type and the WRAIR Education Policy (see the link below for the WRAIR Education Policy Appendix 1 ):

After you hit "Next Question" or "Submit", you will see the next screen.

At this point, you can register with another institution as the screen above shows or you can say "No" to continue with your current selection.

To begin taking the modules assigned to the group you joined (which you should complete based on your research role and the group you joined and according to the WRAIR Education Policy), click on the link under "My Courses" and the "Status" header. The list of modules you should complete appears. First complete the "Integrity Assurance " Statement and then continue with the other modules. Each module has a quiz after you complete the module and the overall passing rate is 80%. So after you answer 80% of the questions correctly, your completion certificate will be generated and will be available to you. If you have not attained 80% passing rate, you can go back and re-take the module(s).

After you have completed all the required modules in the group you have joined, the optional modules will be available to you using this link.
