How to find the tires you need!

Tires. If you own a car, you have probably bought a set of tires at some point in your life. You may have opted for the cheapest brand you could find, or selected an ultra high-performance tire to suit your cars ‘ needs.

Now, there are many different sources for consumers these days. Whether they take a trip to their local repair shop to pick a tire, or search the many websites that offer discount tires, you really can’t go wrong. While a repair shop can provide you with information about the correct fitments for your vehicle and what tire would be best for your uses, they often are forced to charge a premium of their tire prices. On the other hand, many people have opted for buying tires online. This is another great way to fulfill your tire needs. You can research, shop, and then buy at usually a cheaper price then the store. However, you often lose some of those savings on shipping charges. But, what if you are looking for those “hard to find” tires. What options do you have?

With the proliferation of tire brands numbering almost 500, the search for tires has become a tremendous drain on the limited resources of tire wholesalers and retailers. It has become increasingly difficult for “brick and mortar” retailers and online retailers alike to stock all brands and sizes. But recently tire wholesaler, Network Tire, Inc, is offering a new free service. It is called TireHunter ( They will locate that “hard to find” tire – whether it’s one tire or a container, and arrange to ship it directly to the customers’ location, at unbeatable prices. TireHunter.com takes the place of hundreds of phone calls to find that elusive tire or brand. No brand is too small. TireHunter.com will scour the world to find the best deal. I recently got a chance to speak with one of the owners, Andy Chalofsky, and he offered some input on the subject. “We believe that TireHunter.com will provide an invaluable service to wholesalers, retailers and consumers by taking the search effort off of their shoulders.” Given the proliferation of tire brands from all over the world, it is difficult for most tire wholesalers and retailers to keep up with inventory, particularly if they only need a limited quantity, “TireHunter.com was established to fill a unique niche,” says Chalofsky, “by providing search capability for all brands.”

I recently had an incident with the notorious pothole. With all this snow we have been having, it seems potholes were showing up everywhere. Of course, on my way to work, I run into one, and low and behold, I come up with not one, but two flats tires. I went searching for a replacement for my tires, when I realized that they have been discontinued 8 months earlier. I called around on my own and searched the online tires stores just to see if I could find it, but to no avail. I then came across TireHunter’s site and within 2 days they were able to find the tire I was looking for and offered it to me at a price that beat any posted price I have seen for the tire in the past. Thanks TireHunter!
