Dear Parents,

What a wonderful week to have for our topic! Ice and snow! We’ve enjoyed writing about it, counting it and playing in it. We’ve been making a variety of ice sculptures using glitter and colours. We’ve had some great discoveries, finding frozen penguins, ice balloons and frozen letters in the dinosaur pond. On Wednesday we went to the Library which was an exciting experience and we all loved looking at the books, some of us even joined the Library and took books home. This week Mystery Reader was another hit, Trevor the giant chicken was brilliant! Today we have endless amounts of snow fun, look at the blog for our adventures.

Next week we will be looking at wet weather. We will be making rain sticks (thanks to Jacobs Daddy’s big tubes), rain art and measuring the rain. For the measuring we need some empty pop bottles to make into rain catchers, like Becky brought in for show and tell. Can everybody please bring in an empty pop bottle by Tuesday. We will be learning weather songs and just enjoying exploring what we can do in our English weather!

This week the writer of the week award goes to Emily for super writing. She chose to write her WOW word ‘shiny’ about the ice outside, she segmented it herself for spelling. The celebration Tree this week went to Fahren for doing fantastic phonics everyday this week, he’s so good he even does it in his sleep! Well Done!

How can you help at home?

  • Practise our new sounds, oa, ar and or.
  • Write some describing words about the snow, you could even write them in the snow!
  • Don’t forget to read you online books on

Thank you
