The House assembled at 10:00 A.M.
Deliberations were opened with prayer by the Chaplain of the House of Representatives, the Rev. Dr. Alton C. Clark, as follows:
O God of all generations, let Your blessings rest upon all that we have done that is right. If we have mistrusted Your providence, distorted Your power, squandered our time, avoided challenges, ignored Your love, forgive us. Give us lockjaw when we are tempted to downgrade our fellow beings. Make us strong when we try to do better. Keep us great enough and good enough for our times. Then bring us to evening unstained by temptations of any sort. Amen.
Pursuant to Rule 6.3, the House of Representatives was led in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America by the SPEAKER.
After corrections to the Journal of the proceedings of yesterday, the SPEAKER ordered it confirmed.
