House Activities 2014-2015
1) House Activities take place during MS lunch recess, 11:40 -12:10.
2) All 6th grade games will take place on Tuesdays, unless a non-school day dictates a change.
All 7th grade games will take place on Wednesdays, unless (see above).
All 8th grade games will take place on Thursdays, unless (see above).
3) The teams will be represented by homerooms. This will hopefully create a strong team spirit, as teachers will be the team leaders who know their players, will be able to encourage participation much more effectively, and will be able to generate competitive enthusiasm within their homeroom House Team. See below to see which House Team your homeroom has been assigned.
*6A, 7A, 8A = Joseon
*6B, 7B, 8B = Shilla
*6C, 7C, 8C = Baekjae
*6D, 7D, 8D = Koryo
*6E, 7E, 8E = Buyeo
4) There will be 2 House Challenges this year, soccer in the Fall and basketball in the Spring:
a) Soccer: this will run for 7 weeks, starting in September after Chuseok
B) Basketball: this will run for 7 weeks in the 2nd semester (end-Feb? exact dates TBA)
5) In the event that you have a duty during a “House Game Day”, I will ask for support from other teachers to help fill your spot. Especially if you have a lunch-room duty and then a House Game, you would not have any time to eat lunch. This will be taken care of, assuming I have the correct duty schedule for MS staff.
6) HOUSE SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST
We will continue the trend of new House T-Shirt Designs for this school year. Students will have time during the “Advisory Period” this week and early next week to complete their designs and submit them to you.
Homeroom teachers will conduct a “House T-Shirt design contest” during Advisory Period. For example, 6A, 7A, and 8A (Chosun) will conduct the contest within their homeroom. From these competitions, students within each Homeroom will choose the top 3 or 4 FRONT designs and 3 or 4 BACK designs. I will create a Google form with the final applicants, at which time students will be able to vote for this year’s House T-Shirt Design. Their will be 2 winning designs from each House: 1 small circular logo for the front-left “pocket-area” and 1 larger logo to put on the back of the T-Shirt for each House Team. The next page explains the rules that students must follow to enter a design. The final two pages are the templates that students can print out on which to create their designs.
**Amy V.created this template with requirements and stipulations for creation. It has worked very well in the past 2 years, so we’ll keep using it…if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
