Fire chiefs and task/strike force team leaders are encouraged to review the Oregon Fire Service Mobilization Plan to ensure personnel and equipment are prepared to respond. Task/strike force teams must deploy with proper equipment in good working order and team members must be prepared to commit for up to a five-day deployment.

·  Partnership with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives

OSFM, Oregon State Police (OSP) Arson and the Department of Justice Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have agreed to strengthen their partnership by collaborating on investigations involving fire and explosives. State Fire Marshal Nancy Orr and Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal Randy Simpson met with OSP Sergeant Steve Sigurdson and ATF Resident Agent in Charge Colene Domenech. Domenech emphasized ATF’s desire to increase the working relationships with OSFM and OSP. For either structural or wildland fire investigation assistance deputies are encouraged to contact the ATF office at 503-331-7810. ·  Teachers Guide to Fire Safety

The Oregon Fire Marshals Association, in partnership with the Office of State Fire Marshal, has developed a Teachers Guide to Fire Safety for distribution to all Oregon schools. The Teachers Guide to Fire Safety lists nine common classroom circumstances teachers need to be aware of to increase fire safety in their classrooms. A package of posters will be sent to all Oregon public schools and distributed by principals and school public safety officers. A sample of the poster will be included as an insert into the September edition of the Gated Wye.
