Appointment of Deputy Headteacher

We are looking to appoint an experienced teacher who has the vision, energy, drive and commitment to work in partnership with the Headteacher, in the strategic management, leadership and development of our happy school.

Strategic direction and development of the school

·  Share with the Headteacher and governing body a clear commitment to the schools vision, values and purpose.

·  Support the Headteacher in implementing this vision and in leading the school forward to raise standards.

·  Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the School Development Plan and the self evaluation process.

·  Take an active role in the detailed analysis of data to promote the personal and academic development of all pupils.

·  Contribute to the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of teaching, learning and standards through a commitment to School Self Evaluation.

·  Have high expectations and aspirations of all pupils and a commitment to raising standards.

Be fully committed to:

Leadership and Management.

·  To support the Headteacher in the effective day to day management of the school, being proactive, well organised and flexible, with the ability to be reflective and manage change.

·  In partnership with the Headteacher, be able to monitor and evaluate the overall performance of the school and plan for improvement.

·  To be able to provide professional support to staff, demonstrating a knowledge and understanding of staff training and development, including the performance management process.

·  Understand the role of the governing body and support their work.

·  To demonstrate the ability to share the strategic vision of the governors and Headteacher with all the staff.

·  Be able to motivate and inspire staff and pupils.

·  To be decisive, fair and consistent.

Professional expertise.

·  Be an outstanding teacher with high expectations, securing progress for all pupils with a commitment to raising standards.

·  Know and understand the Primary National Curriculum and current initiatives and have an appreciation for the necessity for an enriched and creative curriculum.

·  The successful candidate will have experience of, or knowledge of, the principles of the Early Years Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 curriculum and will have a proven and successful track record of leading school curriculum or staff development.

·  Actively involve pupils in their learning and the life of the school.

·  Have the ability to maintain high standards of behaviour, with a commitment to pastoral care and social and emotional development of pupils.

·  Be confident in the use of ICT to support the curriculum and school management.

·  Have proven and recent experience of analysing pupil assessment and target setting.

·  Be able to work effectively with external agencies, other schools and the wider school community.

Experience

·  An existing Deputy Headteacher or member of the Senior Leadership Team.

·  At least two years successful senior leadership experience and experience of managing change effectively.

·  Evidence of effective teaching and assessment methods.

·  Experience of working with school governors, other agencies, parents/carers and the wider school community.
