2012-13 season

Second full summer for the north Island.

Again we're lucky to run as support for the V8ST’s which has obviously assisted us to lift our profile.

Again we had TV coverage courtesy of Motul and Honda Cup.

We had a number of new series supporter who were selected to assist reducing race costs.

Overall a great season with well presented cars , good competitive close no contact racing.

The enduro well – we cant control the weather but the format definitely has merit.

Membership and more importantly the number of cars racing is still grown which is in contrast the the majority of other classes who are struggling to get fields of 15 cars to race meeting.

There has been a lot going on behind the scenes over winter and Rich will cover some of this later in the evening.

Thanks to all competitors and their teams.

To my assistants for the season Ben and Sam up North and Steve down South.

Special thanks must go to those who have been behind the series from the start.

We have drivers who have run every Honda series for the last 7 years – I wont name you in case I offend someone by leaving you out.

First I must Thank Tim and Kay for there loyal support and friendship over the many years that I have known them .
The number of times I have had to ask them to put their hand in their pocket – well I have forgotten – but if Tim and Kay had not supported me I would never have got the Honda cup off the ground – Thanks Kay and Tim.

For me a special huge thanks must also go to Richard who has been their right from the start, encouraged me to get the series running and has continued to be a catalyst to ensure the series grows. He has put in 100s of hours and thousand of Km's all for the love of the series. Without Richard and others, but particularly Richard the series would not exist and I think everyone needs to take a minute to think about who is doing the work behind the scenes so you guys and girls can front on a Friday and Saturday and enjoy a weekend of racing.

For me the sign of a true friend is when you are down or in a corner, they come to your assistance and for me Richard has always been there when I needed hand up and that was probably more true this season more than any other.

As a token of my appreciation I would like to give this gift to Richard on behalf of myself and all the Hondacup competitors.
