Grades 3-5 Homework Helpers Resources
There are many ways you can help your child be successful in school. Please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher if you ever have any questions. If your child is in need of additional review on a topic, and you don’t know where to go- here are a few suggestions that teachers have found to be successful!
www.khanacademy.org
This website has many videos and activities that students can watch and complete to help them review math skills. The videos teach the lesson, and then there are follow up questions! Sometimes, it’s good for kids to hear a new voice, or see things done another way! If something is just not “clicking” for your child, if you need a refresher, or if they just need additional practice- this is a great resource!
Your child can also sign up to create an account. Many students in grades 3-5 already have one! Ask your child’s teacher if your child is unsure.
Log in information:
Using Chrome- log into Moodle
Open a new tab and go to www.khanacademy.org
Press- “Log in with Google”
Log in using your school email address if prompted
password is the same as your student’s network password here at school- they should know it!
Once logged in your child can do a Mastery Challenge for general math practice, or go to:
“Subjects- Math- Grade level” and choose the topic they wish to view a video of.
www.studyisland.com
This website is aligned to PA state standards and is great PSSA practice. Recommended for all students, but is a great tool to help students feel more prepared (and less anxious!) for PSSAs in the spring. It is also a great tool to practice skills being learned in class. Students in grades 3-5 take benchmark tests in here, so they should be familiar with logging in. Some teachers use this tool in class as well.
Log in information:

Password: same network password
Once logged in your child can click on “PA programs” on the left-hand side and select their grade level. Then, they should either choose Math (PA core) or ELA (PA core). Once inside for the first time, your child may be required to do a pre-test. It should only take a few minutes. Then, they will be able to choose from the list of skills to work on! There are lessons embedded to help students who are struggling and progress can be seen!
Some teachers make assignments in this program for their students to work on in class and at home. To find these assignments, click on “My Class” on the left-hand side when you first long in and then select the class. A list of assignments will show up if the teacher has made one. If nothing pops up when you press “My class”, then you know that the teacher is not using it at this time- but that doesn’t mean you and your child can’t! Just follow the directions in the paragraph above! ☺
