PRESS RELEASE
Home24 and DPD make online furniture purchases even more transparent
Online furniture retailer and parcel service provider agree cooperation covering several years
Home24 customers benefit from DPD's innovative Predict service
Berlin/Aschaffenburg, 08 October 2014 –Today Home24, Germany's largest online furniture retailer, and leading international parcel and express service provider DPD have announced their cooperation in the field of parcel logistics. In future Home24 will be shipping its parcel-sized goods such as small articles of furniture or furnishing accessories with DPD's Predict service.
Only a few weeks ago DPD launched its innovative Predict service, which sets a new benchmark on Germany's parcels market. Predict shows consignees in real time on an online map where their parcel is at any given time and when it will probably be delivered. During the delivery process the predicted time window is gradually reduced to only 30 minutes. In addition, almost right up to the actual delivery itself consignees can still change the day of delivery or re-direct the parcel, for example to their place of work, to a DPD ParcelShop or to a specific neighbour.
“For us this cooperation with DPD is an important step when it comes to providing our customers with an even better service. Thanks to the short delivery-time window and the possibility of changing the place and time of delivery right up to 5 minutes before the actual delivery itself, buying furniture online has now become even simpler for our customers. We’re delighted that we are the first online furniture retailer to be able to offer this flexible and transparent delivery experience”, states Domenico Cipolla, CEO of Home24.
“We are very pleased that in Home24 we have been able to impress such an innovative company with our new Predict service. We’re convinced that for Home24 customers the purchasing experience will now become even more convenient and satisfying”, adds Andreas Reß, Managing Director Vertriebsgesellschaft DPD GmbH.
The two companies are planning a long-term partnership, with their initial agreement covering a three-year cooperation. It is not only in Germany that Home24 customers will benefit from the new parcel service – Home24 and DPD are already working together on three further European markets. This cooperation with DPD rounds off the strategy pursued by the online furniture retailer of using several service providers. The use of a wide range of service providers for different delivery options enables Home24 to offer its customers maximum flexibility and an optimum service.
