Nature and Purpose of Agency
There is a shortage of food pantries in the South Ozone Park area. Some residents come as far as Flushing to Pastor Doris food pantry because there are either no food pantries in the area or they do not have enough food to give out to the general public. The Holy Ghost Upper Room Filling Station is a community church. We believe in doing what we can to make our community a safe and pleasant place in which to work, live and worship.
Tasks Available for Students
Food Pantry
Patrons can select their own items to take with them; fruits, veggies, meat, frozen items, cereal, canned goods, etc.
Volunteers needed to help patrons select food items.
Volunteers needed to assist with the registration and intake of new clients (give them a number and I.D.).
Volunteers needed to help with the overhaul and organization of client information in Microsoft.
Time Requirements
Food Pantry 9am – 12pm Saturdays
Assist with computer and data organization Monday – Saturday. Hours are flexible.
Student Awareness/Special Instructions
*Students should volunteer in pairs or small groups.*
Holy Ghost Upper Room is a house Church. Food Pantry is located in the back and very well organized.

Take the Q31 bus toward Jamaica. Get off the bus at Jamaica Ave and Sutphin Blvd. Transfer to the Q40 bus going toward South Jamaica. Get off the bus at 143rd St and 133rd Ave. Walk east on 133rd to 146-17 133rd Ave. (About 50 minutes)
Driving Directions
Take Grand Central Parkway West; go left at Main Street. Take exit 2 and get on the Van Wyck going West. Turn left at Rockaway Blvd, then right at 146th St. Take the 3rd
left onto 133rd Ave. (About 20 minutes)
