  1. Textbook Money
  2. Discussed spending textbook money. If we don’t use it, we lose it.
  3. CORE team members will talk to departments and find out what are their needs.
  1. Update from Tech Committee
  2. Computer labs get updated every 5 yrs. For 129A, looking at adding 20 (apprx) laptops instead of updating PC’s.
  3. $31,500 anticipated as HMS tech budget
  4. When updating teacher’s PC’s (when time is due) – looking at laptops. Distribution would start with traveling teachers.
  5. Would you like to access files from home? Tech committee looking into other districts that currently do this.
  6. Getting access to twitter/facebook/youtube – email sent by Tom Nemmer.

  2. Meetings times were scheduled in the district calendar. Not necessary to meet at this time but it is available. Next scheduled time is 2/17.
  3. A CORE Team member will facilitate the first meeting. After that, the committee can choose a coordinator.

  4. Parents are able to join all committees except Data Committee.

  2. Decision made - Going with framework from CORE last year. The only difference is that we are going to work on a schedule that will make the exploratories more individualized (versus a general presentation in the aud).
  3. 6th grade will be held Wednesday of first full week (if possible).
  4. 7/8thgrade will be held together on the Thursday of the first full week (if possible). One of the grades will start with the team presentations while the other grade is meeting with exploratories.
  5. SpEds will still have options of meeting separately.

  2. Suggestion of three goals in the beginning.
  3. Most districts focusing on ELA/Math.
  1. Brain Awareness
  2. Scheduled Jesse Saperstein for3/25 (day and evening presentations).
  3. Brain Awareness Week is one week prior. Jesse does anti-bullying message but he also talks about being different. Jen would like to tie this into brain awareness-find out what kind of intelligence students have OR what kind of kind of learning styles, etc.
  4. Planning on having kids that are on the spectrum eat lunch w Jesse. He will also be doing a book signing.
  5. Jen will email staff to get ideas on incorporating the brain awareness message into the classroom leading up to the presentation by Jesse.
