CAPALC needs You

The CAPALC Board provides management and direction for the organisation and meets up to six times each year. CAPALC covers the four Cambridgeshire district areas and the Peterborough area and membership of the CAPALC Board is open to any parish or town councillor of a member council. The Board is currently under represented in the South Cambs, Hunts and Fenland areas. Being a CAPALC Board member is a rewarding role and is an opportunity to play a more active role in the activities in your district area and the management of CAPALC and for the 240 councils in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Expressions of interest can be sent to Ian Dewar at or call 01480 376629 or 07802 824428 for an informal chat to find out more.

CAPALC is going Mobile

With the improvement in digital communications, the latest developments in mobile phones and the rise in the use of other mobile devices such as tablets CAPALC is in the process of piloting e-bulletins direct to chairmen, councillors and clerks. This service will allow any CAPALC member council (chairman, councillor or clerk) to receive CAPALC bulletins direct to their computer, phone or tablet rather than having to search for the information. To sign up for this service just email the word E-BULLETIN to

HMRC Real Time Information (RTI) and PAYE

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) recognise that some small employers may need longer to adapt to reporting PAYE information in real time and have until 5th October 2013 agreed a relaxation of reporting arrangements for small businesses which may include parish and town councils.

It should be noted this is only a temporary relaxation and is not a withdrawal of the requirement to report PAYE in real time.

This just gives your council some extra time to adapt your processes or change arrangements for managing payroll.
