- Action Items from Last Call:

[X] Galen: provide FHIM as zipped up model to Ken, for distribution to CDS list

Rational Rose model received

[X] Ken: provide vMR UML DAM as EA file to Galen

[X] Call in 1 week: have working session led by Galen to explore expressing vMR DAM using FHIM style and data types

- Meeting Notes/Discussion Items:

- FHIM provided by Galen in Rationale Software Modeler format (link)

- Most of call centered on discussing how FHIM could be adapted to potentially serve as a basis for the vMR

- e.g., by hiding complexity in a vMR view of the FHIM

- [ ] Galen: will continue pursuing this work based on discussion, for further discussion on call on 7/8 (Th)

- [ ] Ken: will check if someone familiar with the HL7 Pedigree model can provide a walk through during next call

- [ ] Andrew: will make an initial attempt at modeling the HL7 Pedigree model in the FHIM format

- Discussed potential approaches to accessing/manipulating the FHIM

- Rational Software Modeler

- tool used by Galen

- pros: appropriate for task, native format for current models

- cons: expensive license (> $1,000)

- IBM has donated several licenses to HL7 for use by modeling facilitators

- [ ] Ken: will check with tooling work group co-chairs about possibility of obtaining a license for this project

- Enterprise Architect

- pros: inexpensive license, many participants have access, has been used thus far for vMR work

- cons: apparently, there is loss of information translating from the FHIM (e.g., diagrams are lost), due to tool’s apparent problems with UML 2.1 compliance

- conclusion: not ideal tool choice given loss of information

- Eclipse-based modeling tools (e.g., Papyrus)

- pros: available inexpensively, can be used with FHIM without data loss

- [ ] Galen: will check with relevant VHA experts (Shawn Muir, Dave Carlson) to get guidance on how these tools can be used by the project team for working with the FHIM

- Action Items:

- [ ] Galen: will continue pursuing this work based on discussion, for further discussion on call on 7/8 (Th)

- [X] Ken: will check if someone familiar with the HL7 Pedigree model can provide a walk through during next call

Have asked Scott Bolte and Nathan Hulse if they may be able to do this

- [ ] Andrew: will make an initial attempt at modeling the HL7 Pedigree model in the FHIM format

- [ ] Ken: will check with tooling work group co-chairs about possibility of obtaining a license for this project

- [ ] Galen: will check with relevant VHA experts (Shawn Muir, Dave Carlson) to get guidance on how Eclipse-based tools such as Papyrus can be used by the project team for working with the FHIM
