Recent and Upcoming Activities

1.  Schedule: Discuss schedule of activities.

a.  Precon surveys have been conducted and completed. Survey results were delayed but will be sent out next week.

b.  Hazmat completion certified to DDOE. Delay caused by undocumented storm lines and DDOE delays. Development team to receive Raze Permit today, May 29, 2015.

c.  Look-ahead Schedule:

i.  Now – Late June, 2015 – Demolition of School Buildings

ii.  July 2015 – Excavation Begins. Some utility work to begin, likely in C Street and the east-west alley.

iii.  November 2015 – Vertical Construction Begins

iv.  November 2016 – Approximate delivery date for first North units/retailers

v.  June 2017 – Approximate delivery date for first South units/retailers

2.  Public Space Hearing and Public Space Permit

a.  Public Space Occupancy Permit: SEB is submitting for Public Space Permit (covering access to the site during construction). Revised Traffic Control Plans approved by DDOT. Copies of the updated TCP’s are posted on the Project Website.

b.  Flea Markets have transitioned off the site. Community Meeting conducted on 5/4/15 at 5:30 PM at Eastern Market North Hall.

3.  Artwork on Construction Fence: SEB has received the artwork and will install it on the covered walkway interior walls.

4.  Site Access, Construction Fence, and Adjacent Right of Way

a.  Construction Fence (Article 10) – shown on above-mentioned TCP’s. CAC to discuss ongoing fence changes through the demo, excavation, and construction phases.

b.  Closures for Sewer Work in Public Space – SEB still coordinating approvals with DC Water. Will provide update when we agree to work schedule with DC Water, likely in July/August of 2015.

5.  Signage (Article 12)

c.  Media Campaign – SEB engaged marketing company and is developing a program for media campaign.

d.  Open for Business Sign: SEB finalizing proofs for the “open for business” signage, which will be posted on the corner of 7th and Penn (on the construction fence).

6.  Disruption of Utility Services (Article 13) – None anticipated in near future. SEB will notify neighbors of north alley sewer work impact once work is approved by DC Water.

7.  Rodent Control – Western Pest has certified no rodent activity in building.

8.  Dust Control (Article 14) – Clark Dust Control plan posted on project website.

9.  Site Lighting (Article 17) – Temporary power will be used for construction activities through the excavation phase. Semi-permanent Construction Site lighting will commence after excavation phase.

10.  Site Cleanliness (Article 18) – CAC to discuss site cleanliness at each CAC meeting and provide feedback to SEB/Clark.

11.  Construction Work Hours and Noise (Article 19) – DC Code Construction Hours are 7AM to 7PM. CMA requires that Saturday hours, when necessary, are from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

12.  Crane Swing (Article 22, anticipate erection in December 2015).

13.  Hine Call In Line: Datawatch call center will field calls and route them to the appropriate development team member. Signs displaying the call in number will be posted at the corners of the site. Call in number is (240) 630-6750.
