JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Environment Quality & Safety (EQS) Manager

LOCATION: The Arena Business Park, Bristol

2.1.  None

3.  Main Purpose of Job

3.1 To assist the company’s operational management team in producing, introducing and managing environmental, quality and safety systems, procedures and records.

4.  Key Tasks and Responsibilities

4.1.  To carry out risk assessments across all the current and future operational areas of the business and update these as and when operating systems change.

4.2.  Use completed risk assessments to produce safe systems of work and introduce and update these as necessary.

4.3.  Update site specific fire prevention plans as necessary and assist site managers with the implementation and compliance of these plans.

4.4.  Produce a company training matrix and assist site managers with initial training and ongoing refresher training to ensure all staff are appropriately trained.

4.5.  Maintain a good working relationship with HSE inspectors and report any improvement requirements to the company directors as and when identified.

4.6.  Maintain companywide accident reporting procedures and records.

4.7.  Assist site managers with the compliance of their environmental permits and ensure that you and the site managers hold the relevant waste management qualifications to operate the sites.

4.8.  Liaise with Environment Agency officers regularly and maintain a strong working relationship them.

4.9.  Apply for new, as well as renewals or adjustments to, environmental permits, licenses and exemptions as and when required.

4.10.  Assist site managers with the compliance of site specific Environmental Management Systems and ensure these systems are updated as necessary.

4.11.  Produce, complete and file Environment Agency quarterly returns for all the company’s waste operating sites.

4.12.  Regularly inspect and audit all company operational sites and work with site managers to implement any improvements identified.

4.13.  Gain a clear understanding of the planning permissions the company has obtained across its operational sites and assist site managers with the compliance of their conditions.

4.14.  Maintain good working relationships with Council enforcement officers.

4.15.  Manage, record and rectify complaints and improvements notices that the company may receive from time to time and arrange to meet with customers and regulators as necessary.

4.16.  Obtain a clear understanding of the companies waste management software and update the data within it to ensure compliance with environmental, quality and safety legislation.

4.17.  Attend monthly management meetings to update managers on EQS matters.

4.18.  Maintain a well organised database on the company’s server of all EQS systems, procedures and records.

4.19.  Keep up to date with industry specific legislation concerning environment, quality and safety and notify the company director of any policy changes that may affect the company.

4.20.  To be polite, courteous and helpful in all dealings with customers and the public at large.

4.21.  To read and observe procedures which are introduced from time to time

4.22.  To undertake training at the Company's expense if required

4.23.  To undertake other duties as reasonably assigned

4.24.  Be prepared to move to an alternative place of work, within the same geographical region, if the business requires
