HIGHER SECONDARY SCHOOL CERTIFICATE EXAMINATION

Scheme of study

B:- Subjects for the Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination shall be in three groups which follow:

Group A: Languages.

(i) First Language (Special) (ii) Second Language (General)

Group B:- Diversified Subjects :

(i) General Education Courses. (ii) Vocational Courses.

Group C:-

(i) SUPW or Vocational Training of a trade.

(ii) Physical Education or NCC/NSS - Boy Scout & Girls' Guide or Co-curricular & other activities.

Every candidate of Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination shall be examined in the following way.

External Examination

Group A: Language:

(i) Every candidate shall offer one of the folowing languages as First Language (Special)

1. Hindi, 2. English, 3. Marathi, 4. Urdu, 5. Punjabi 6. Bengali, 7. Sindhi, 8. Gujrati, 9. Telgu, 10. Tamil, 11. Malyalam, 12. Kannada.

(ii) Every candidate shall offer one of the following languages as Second language (General)

1. Hindi, 2. Sanskrit, 3. English, 4. Marathi, 5. Urdu, 6. Punjabi, 7. Sindhi, 8. Bengali, 9. Telgu, 10. Gujrati, 11. Tamil, 12 Malyalam 13. Arabic, 14. Persian, 15. French, 16. Russian, 17. Kannada,

18. Oriya.

Note :- Hindi or English is to be offered compulsorily by every candidate either as First Language (Special) or Second Language (General)

Group B- (i) Diversified Subjects (General Education Courses)

Every candidate shall offer any one of the following groups.

1. Humanities Group : A candidate shall offer three subjects out of the following.

(i) History, (ii) Geography, (iii) Political Science, (iv) Higher Mathematics, (v) Economics, (vi) Any one of the following subjects:-

1. Indian Music, 2. Drawing and Designing, 3. Dancing 4. Steno-typing 5. Agriculture, 6. Sociology, 7. Psychology 8. Home Science, Anatomy Physiology and Hygiene.

(vii) Any one of the following foreign/classical/modern Indian languages (literature) not already offered-

1. Sanskrit, 2. Persian, 3. Arabic, 4. French, 5. Russian, 6.Marathi, 7. Urdu, 8. Punjabi, 9. Sindhi, 10. Bengali, 11. Gujrati, 12. Telgu, 13. Tamil, 14. Malayalam, 15. Hindi, 16. English, 17. Kannada.

Note :- The courses of modern Indian languages and English under this group will be the same as the course of the fist language under Group 'A'

2. Science Group :-

(i) Physics (ii) Chemistry

(iii) Any one of the following-

1. Biology, 2. Higher Mathematics, 3. Agriculture 4. Forestry, 5. Geology

3. Commerce Group :-

(i) Elements of Commerce & Management (ii) Book-keeping & Accountancy.

(iii) Any one of the following-

1. Steno-typing, 2. Applied Economics and Commercial Geography, 3. Industrial Organisation. 4. Mathematics 5. Computer Application, 6. Business Mathematics

4. Agriculture group -

(i) Elements of Science and Mathematics useful for Agriculture.

(ii) Crop Production and Horticulture.

(iii) Elements of Animal Husbandry and Poultry Farming.

5. Fine Arts Group -

(i) Drawing and Painting. (ii) Still life and Paint making.

(iii) History of Indian Art and World Art.

6. Home Science Group-

(i) Home-management & Nutrition. (ii) Mother-craft, Health and Hygiene.

(iii) Elements of Science

Group B -(ii) Vocational Courses have to be specified spearately-

Note-1. Language once offered under a Group cannot be offered again under any other group.

2. Question-papers will be made available in Hindi,English, and Urdu. The candidate will have the option to answer questions in Hindi or English or Urdu or Marathi medium.

3. The minimum marks required for a Pass in the First, Second and Third divisions shall be 270,203,149 respectively in the aggregate.

4. For Distinction, 75 percent of the maximum marks secured per subject shall be the minimum.

5. Students of Science group may offer Mathematics or Biology as an additional Subject.

6. Any special case not covered above will be referred to the Chairman whose decision shall be final and binding.

Group C- Subjects of Internal Instruction :-

(1) SUPW or Vocational Training of a Trade.(Physical Education or NCC/NSS/Boys Scout & Girl Guide or Co-Curricular & other activities.)

Evaluation of internal instruction will be continuous and the school will maintain a cumnlative record of every student and this record will be open for inspection to the authorities of the Board and of the school concerned. However, students offering Vocational Training will also have the facility to appear in an examination especially canducted for the purpose, and on passing it, awarded a certificate of proficiency in the Trade.

Scouting & Girls offering Vocational Training will also have the facility to appear Guide or Co- in examination, especially conducted for the purpose and on passing
