A Message from
Mr. Tabbitas.
Looking forward to May. . .
Even though we are at the end of the school year there is no slowing down at Petrides.
Academically, our students will be taking the Advanced Placement Exams, preparing for State Regents Exams and thoroughly engaged in 4th marking period course curricula materials. Our 3rd marking period report cards will be distributed on May 1st. You can also log on to Pupilpath to view your child’s report card. Please do not forget our vast amount of academic student supports we currently have in place. From our High School Support Center, NHS tutoring, office hours and independent resources in the Student Learning Center and Library, and Math tutoring on Wednesday & Thursday from 2:30 – 4:00, we have the resources to help students achieve.
Our students will be just as busy with extra curricula activities this month as well. Take a look at our calendar, Important Dates, my page on our website Petridesschool.com and your email for the principals’ eblast.

Diversity Day
On May 31, The Michael J. Petrides School will be celebrating Diversity Day. Our building will be transformed to represent the diverse cultures from around the world.

SAVE A LIFE TOUR
On May 22, we will hold a special assembly for our high school students about driving safety. This special assembly will conclude with our students participating in a drunk/distracted driving simulation experience. The assembly and simulation should spark some discussion at home. Please continue the message about safe driving with your child.
Interest in a career in Heath Care?
Check up on the 2017 Careers in Health Care Lecture Series being held in the Regina McGinn Education Center at Staten Island University Hospital. Each session is from 4-5pm at 475 Seaview Avenue, Staten Island NY 10305.

REGESTRATION DEADLINE IS FAST APPROACHING
A nationally recognized school-to-college partnershipbetween The College of Staten Island, New York, a branch of the City University of New York (CUNY), and the Petrides school. The program offers rigorous freshman-level college credit and developmental coursework without cost to high school juniors and seniors on the campus of CSI. .
These courses are open to high school juniors and seniors who meet prerequisite requirements and are free.
Registration takes place from May 1st – May 5th from 2:00pm – 6:00pm at CSI, South Administration Building 1A room 208.

Math Tutoring
We have added another support to help our students in mathematics. Tutoring will be available every Wednesday & Thursday from 2:30 -4:00. This program will continue through June with student interest.
