Course Description:
Astudent in this class willbuild uponproficiencygained in French 1 to handle
most conversations related to traveling and meeting new people in francophone
countries. A passing grade in French 1 is a pre-requisite. Focus shifts to more
difficult forms of communication such as various verb tenses, asking directions,
and more in depth conversations. French culture is also included in the
coursework.
Skills will be developed through listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Students will also have multiple oportunities learn interactively using computer
technology. As acontinuation of French1 this course also emphasizes
participation and communicating verbally in French. A sense of humor is
appreciated.

General Expectations:
- All students will attempt to pass this course.
- Students will be polite to their classmates and the teacher.
- Students will be ready to work as soon as the bell rings, (pen and paper already out).
- Students will be prepared to work until the bell rings at the end of class.
- The teacher will provide worthwhile, practical, and fun (usually) learning projects.
- The teacher will help students understand and complete assignments.
- The teacher will be available to help students during office hours.
- The teacher will be fair and attempt to have a good sense of humor.

9/24-10/11 Chapter 2 – review; welcoming, responding, asking and telling feelings, tu
vs.vous, est-ce que, intonation, past events, pointing things out, compliments, adjectives before nouns, rooms and furniture, contractions with de, directions, contractions with à, places in town.
10/12-10/31 Chapter 3 – review; making purchases, en, stores and products, prices,
quantity, foods, numbers, sharing food, compliments, partitive articles, meals, days of the week, advice, good wishes, lui and leur, gifts, shops, accepting and turning down suggestions.
11/1-11/27 Chapter 4 – asking for info, describing places, flora, fauna, de before plural
