MOL New Europe Foundation again awarded dedicated efforts of eight teachers and coaches

On behalf of MOL New Europe Foundation Ms. Dóra Somlyai, the Foundation’s curator and Eszter Ónodi actress (recently requested as goodwill ambassador of the Foundation) welcomed the eight teachers and coaches, who could receive MOL Talent Care Award, as a form of recognition of their exemplary work and efforts.
The award has been granted year-by-year to dedicated teachers, coaches and experts, who helped several young talents, sportsmen and artists in starting their careers, and who could later become successful persons. New Europe Foundation Trustees selected the eight pedagogues for the award from more than 1000 candidates nominated in 2012. This prize-giving ceremony was the debut for Eszter Ónodi, new goodwill ambassador of the Foundation, holder of Mari Jászai Award, actress of the József Katona Theatre. MOL Talent Care Award is a combined moral and financial recognition, with a monetary value of 500.000 HUF per person.
„Personify what you teach, and teach only what you personify. The awarded four teachers and four coaches can perfectly represent this philosophy, or even more, I can hardly think of better experts for our children and future generations. And we need this exemplary behaviour more than ever” – pointed out Dóra Somlyai, curator of New Europe Foundation on the award giving ceremony.
MOL Talent Care Award in 2012 was granted to eminent teachers, like László Durányik choir master (Kecskemét), Gyöngyi Endrész teacher of chemistry (Miskolc), dr. Géza Kiss teacher (Budapest) and Mrs. Megyimórecz Ildikó Schmidt piano teacher (Pécs).
Regarding coaches and experts in the field of sports Péter Halla epee coach (Budapest), József Herpai chess coach (Szeged), Árpád Horváth handball coach (Tatabánya) and István Király kick-box coach (Budapest) received the award.
In conformity with the traditions, former winners of the MOL Talent Support Programme held performance on the ceremony. Thus the spectators could enjoy the musical performance of Abigél Králik (14 year-old), she started her violin lessons with Mrs. Ács Éva Szily, who was awarded last year. The other performing young talent of the event was Ádám Balogh (15year-old) piano player, pupil of, Mrs. Megyimórecz Ildikó Schmidt, who was decorated with the award this year. Both are now students of the Pre-school of Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music for Extraordinary Talents.
As part of the award-giving ceremony, the Foundation also announced the invitation for nominees issued for this year by MOL Talent Support Programme Sport, thus entries of talented and successful young sportsmen (10-18 year) are invited by March 29 who need financial support for purchasing equipments and gears or for travel cost. Teachers
László Durányik choir master, Kecskemét
Teacher of the Kodály School of Music at Kecskemét since 1995, where he founded and also presently conducting the Miraculum Children Choir, the Aurin Girl Choir and the Aurin Female Choir with young lady members who have finished the School. He and his choirs won several prestigious awards and prizes in many domestic and international choir competitions and festivals in the past years. In 2006 the Girl Choir won the Olympic Championship in the Choir Olympic Games in China. The choirs assumed the mission to cherish traditions of the Hungarian culture and to bring up young people who are fully committed towards choir singing.
Gyöngyi Endrész teacher of chemistry, Miskolc
Has been teaching at the Ferenc Földes Secondary Grammar School of Miskolc for 28 years and he will this year lead his sixth class to the maturity examination. Several students could reach the finals in the OKTV and prestigious chemical competition named after Irinyi, and they won the first prize in the last five events. Four students have so far participated in the International Student Olympics of Chemistry. He is a strict and consequent teacher, but he understands and makes himself understood on the teenagers’ language, and can effectively motivate them. He was involved into the development of the so-called two-tier maturity examination system, and co-author and lector of textbooks and exercise books preparing students for maturity examination.
dr. Géza Kiss, teacher of mathematics , Budapest
Teacher for 20 years in the Zsigmond Móricz Grammar School at Kisújszállás his native city), then from 2004 in the Apáczai Grammar School in Budapest. Since 2009 teacher of the Mihály Fazekas Grammar School, then since 2010 senior teacher. As a dedicated personality he can extremely incentivise children to get acquainted and fell in love with mathematics, and can generate a healthy competitive spirit in often withdrawn talents and the spirit of respect towards competitors. His students have year-by-year distinguished themselves in the OKTV and in the most prestigious national competition of mathematics.
Mr. Megyimórecz Ildikó Schmidt, piano teacher, Pécs
Dedicated and committed teacher for nearly 30 years in the Ferenc Liszt School of Music at Pécs, then form 2010 also in the Pécs Secondary School of Arts. Her students won several prizes and awards in national and international piano competitions. Her former pupil, Ádám Balogh has been a student of the Pre-school of Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music for Extraordinary Talents since 2011. The lady teacher regularly holds presentations on methodology on conferences, and organises various musical events. Her work in pedagogy of music was several times recognised with national awards and decorations.
Coaches
Péter Halla, fencing coach, Budapest
Since 1975, he has been working as a coach focusing on succession, since 2003, as the coach of the Vasas Sport Club. In addition to leading the epee branch of the Club, he holds fencing lessons in the István Bocskai Elementary School in Budapest, and he can thus make sports popular with hundreds of children. His young pupils won several outstanding results in the age-group international competitions, and the Club has by now become one of the most successful succession-training bases in Hungary. His love of children and excellent focus help him to be successful, and mutual respect and true partnership are his key drivers.
József Herpai chess coach, Szeged
He has been working as a teacher of mathematics and chess for more than 25 years in the Tisza Elementary School at Szeged. During this period he has introduced chess with an army of children, many of them have reached outstanding results in Hungary and abroad. He was the first coach of Péter Lékó grandmaster, who is the no. 1. chess player of Hungary, and Petra Papp female grandmaster, Chess Olympian. His students regularly occupy the rostrum positions of the national team and individual chess championship. His fantastic commitment towards chess is motivated by unselfish emotions towards teaching and the children.
Árpád Horváth handball coach, Tatabánya
Teacher of physical education and sports in the Zoltán Kodály Elementary School in Tatabánya, and has been introducing handball game with the pupils and training talented players for succession for Grundfos Tatabánya KC since 33 years. His teams have been qualified to finals of student Olympics 24 times so far, and won several golden, silver or bronze medals in the national handball junior championship. The school has twice won the title „the best Hungarian school for handball succession”, and several members of the Hungarian national teams (adolescent, youth, junior and adult) started this sport in is hands.
István Király, kick-box coach, Budapest
Captain of the Hungarian adult and junior national teams, Dan VI grandmaster, founder and leading coach of the Halker-Király Team Kick-box Academy.
The Academy is ranked as the 8th best kick.-box club on the world, and out of the nearly 200 members there are 10 adult and 27 junior world champions. The Club is specifically focusing on under-privileged young talents, and the eminent Roma sportsmen support and help their younger bodies as mentors within the Sport Integration Program. Mr. Király supported, inter alia, Richárd Veress, three-time world champion, who was invited to run with the Olympic flame in London.
