High 1 Ski & Snowboarding Trip

Jan 7 & 8, 2012 Final Arrangements

Hi all Waegook Travel Skiers, Snowboarders and Party People.
Welcome on Waegook Travel's 2012 ski and snowboarding trip - party at High 1 Resort & Casino. Hope you are psyched as we are. Here are the final arrangements.
Please note that these arrangements shouldn't change but something unexpected can happen, so please check your e-mails, the event walls or the web site on Friday just in case the departure point or time changes for some reason. Please read this information thoroughly. If everyone is on time at the right places we will all have an awesome weekend. We prepared small info cards which you can refer to for mostly everything you will need to know, but you will not have those till we meet. We don't like leaving anyone behind, but is has happened before and would likely happen again after most people have a good Friday night out. If for some reason the schedule changes and you are in doubt, please call us. The buses can't wait because High 1 is far and we still need to sort out equipment before the afternoon session starts.

Very Important:
Everyone from Gumi will leave from Gumi, Daegu and Daejeon will leave from Daegu and Daejeon. The Ulsan and Gimcheon people are joining the Gumi bus. Jeonju is joining Daejeon. Please let us know if you are planning on joining a different bus, so that we can check availability.
Transport:
The Daejeon-Daegu Bus starts in Daejeon at 04:20 AM. It will pick the Daegu people up at 06:20 in front of the bus area in front of Debec Plaza. You can take Exit 14 or 15 when using the subway and getting off at Banwoldang Station. Debec Plaza is next to the new Hyundai shopping mall. We will post links and more info regarding the locations in case you don't know where they are.
On the way back the order will be the reverse. Gumi will go to Gumi. The Daejeon-Daegu bus will first drop the people of at Debec Plaza and then head to Daejeon. To make it easier for the Daejeon people we arranged with the bus to drop you off at a spot which is more central than City Hall. Carel will handle this.
Accommodation, Food and Shuttle Buses:
We tried and managed to place most people in the same condominiums. We have 4 very big 68 pyeong (542 square meters) condominiums with 3 bedrooms, big living room, kitchen etc each. It's up to people where they sleep and is on a first come first serve basis. We suggest that the party people take the living room and the people who ski Sunday morning the bedrooms. The bedrooms must be shared by at least 4 people. We are going to party and have a great time. Please be considerate to other people in the condo and respect their and the resort's property.
The condominiums are self catering and you are welcome to make breakfast, coffee or whatever you like. There is a convenience store at Mayhill Resort. Most of us usually just eat out or order in. There are restaurants, a gym etc at Mayhill, but some people might like to try the revolving restaurant on the mountain, fast food places at Valley or maybe catch a show at Kangwon Land. There are regular shuttle buses from our accommodation to the slopes and the last one runs at 22:00. Our buses will also be there at the designated times on the schedule. Taxis can be called to go to places outside our bus and shuttle bus schedule. Valley is only 5 minutes away from Mayhill by shuttle bus, but Kangwon Land is about 20 Minutes. Imshil Pizza is where we will usually meet and that is also where you can get the shuttle buses. It is located at Valley Resort. The shuttle buses also run to Kangwon Land and Casino 4 times a day. Most people from the same cities will be together in a condominium. Some people will be with friends from another city as per request during booking.
Groups A, B, C and D: Rentals and Room Numbers( Click for Image on Flickr)
We divided people into groups according to which Condominium they will be staying in and each one has a unique number e.g. D3. For ski-rentals etc you will also be part of the group you are in. If in any doubt ask any of the coordinators. Your number, room etc will all be on the info card we give you. Please stand with your group. Rentals will be issued in numerical order in each group. By being patient you will help us get everyone their equipment in the shortest possible time.If you have problems with the sizes etc. there will be someone to attend to you after everyone has their equipment. Please make sure that rentals are returned on time. We ask that people lock their skis and snowboards in the ski lockers. Please don't bring them to the condos. The lockers are cheap, makes it easier for you to move around and they are out of the way and safe. There are also normal lockers at valley for those who want to secure their valuables or just don't want to walk in heavy ski boots.
Debits, Credits and Tips:
A few people need to be refunded and some have to pay in. This will be sorted out on the bus after everyone is settled in. It is customary for people on our trips to tip the bus driver if he bears with our parties, music, regular stops and gets us there safely. We suggest a tip of Won 5 000 from everyone (only 1 way) if the driver deserves it.
Only Daejeon or Daegu would have had a bus and Daegu won the numbers race at the time we booked the bus. Many people requested we please get a bus to stop in Daejeon and we obliged. The bus costs much more coming from Daejeon via Daegu and back. Sugi and I cover a big part of that cost and we ask the people from Daejeon to please contribute Won 10 000 each to some of this cost. It is not ideal or compulsory, but any contribution will be appreciated. It still works out much cheaper than getting a bus to Daegu or Gumi, paying extra accommodation on Friday night and having the inconvenience of getting a bus late at night back to Daejeon. We will also understand if you are more conservative with your tips for the driver than the other cities.
Ski Instruction:
Waegook Travel has a ski and snowboard instructor Ms Seung Jin Oh on the trip. She is very well qualified and had to travel far just to get from Jeonju to High 1 and offers up her ski time to help our guests. We highly recommend that beginners make use of her services. Ski and snowboard instruction is usually very expensive. Now is your chance to get professional instruction for only Won 10 000 and really enjoy skiing or boarding instead of just falling and getting up time after time. Speak to Carel if you need more info to when and where.
Coordinators, Thanks and Contact Info:
Waegook Travel has always been very lucky to have great people helping with all the arrangements. Carel has done a great job with the organization of many of our trips and exceeded in getting people together for this trip. All our coordinators have lots of experience and go out of their way to make each trip a
truly enjoyable experience. We want to welcome Shelley D'Souza as the newest member of our team. She will be looking after Daegu in the future.

Some Bedding is provided and the floors are heated but we suggest bringing a pillow and something soft to sleep on just in case. Also remember dry and warm clothes, towel, toiletries, sun protection and most important something to drink for the bus. You can't buy alcohol on the highway in Korea.
We really hope that everyone will have a great time on this much anticipated trip. Please drink responsibly but have loads of fun.
See Saturday!!!
