Minutes of Board Meeting January 8, 2009
1. Call to Order: 7:07 p.m.
2. Board Members present :Berke, Elliott, Hayes, Jain, Libien, Tirrell
3. Invited Guest: Ollie Becker-Hiddenbrooke Golf Club. Report: Club made its financial goals for 2008; Course rated 4 ½ Stars out of 5 by Golf Digest as best places to play. New food and beverage manager; John Vest named General Manager, so Sigfried is Head Pro. Upcoming events include Crab Feed Jan. 23rd, Super Bowl Shotgun Feb. 1st, Wine Dinner Feb. 27th; and Fri Night dinner Feb. 13th.
4. Changes/Additions to Agenda: none.
5. Approval of Minutes of December Meeting? M/S/C.
6. Treasurer’s Report: Jim Hayes Balance Sheet shows Assets of $13,607.30 with liabilities of -$192.33. Profit and Loss July-Jan shows income of $9892.41 with expenses of $10,818.16, net income of -$925.75. Fed tax return filed, no revenue over $25,000.
7. Welcome Center: White stripes to be painted on crosswalks on entrance side at the Stop Signs to hopefully slow down traffic.
8. Neighbors Update and 1/22/09 Meeting with HPOA: Analysis of Neighbors publication = Expensive, time and labor intensive, suggestion to go to paperless, Online publication. Presentation to HPOA Board for their support to discuss Webmaster position(s), Editor(s), Editorial Board, Ads, Hiddenbrooke Online.org operation, costs, ?salaries? funding?.
9. Golf Tournament update: Committee meeting 1-12-09 at Libiens, to discuss foremat, 9-hold? Dinner? committee members, prizes, etc.
10. Social Update: Repeat 2009 dates with coordination with Golf Club calendar: Feb. 21st Oldies/Goodies Party; May 9th Nuevo de Mayo Party; August 8th Pacific Island Festival; Nov. 7th Wine and Cheese Party. National Night Out the First Tuesday in August= August 4th hosted by Golf Club.
11. Safety Update: Still delay in coordinating Dispatch with Hiddenbrooke Security to Implement AED. Chief Sherman of Vallejo reports that Solano EMS is renegotiating contract up for bid for Emergency response. Will check with Rudy Manfredi of Medic Ambulance and Michael Friend of Solano EMS.
12. City Relations Update: Jim Libien reports tensions within City Council, Mayor’s office, and City manager due to negotiations with public safety unions and bankruptcy proceedings.
13. Membership Update: Mailing party on 1-10-09 at Berke’s to stuff and mail 1100 letters to request membership renewal or initial membership @$40.00 per year.
14. Liason to HPOA update: Continuing meetings with agenda and Byrne Connely as facilitator; Committee will be working on Neighbors changeover next.
15. The PG&E issue: Kevin Elliott will set up community meeting through PG&E, and call John Jacobs when date(s) are set.
16. The Ambulance future in Hiddenbrooke:Chief Sherman(see item 11) proposing replacing Medic Ambulance with Vallejo Paramedics stationed in Hiddenbrooke if monetary and jurisdictional issues can be worked out.
