Hi Lorraine,
Thanks for the link. I've taken a look and have a few points in reply.
So you are a CPD student and you want to access the SGUL network but unfortunate for you, you have forgotten your password. Did you give your alternative email addresses to the CPD office so that they could add it to your student record, which in turn updates the SGUL Student registration System. If not make sure you do so that you can use the forgotten password? Click Here link on the Single Sign-On page. This
- CPD students can't and shouldn't use the capturealtemail service - they give their email addresses directly to the CPD office, who then add it to their student records system, which updates ours overnight.
- They won't be able to log into the Portal to use the Forgotten Password link on the Services page; they'll need to use "Forgotten Password?" on the Single Sign-On page.
The rest is fine, but I would suggest adding the following CPD-specific points:
It is important that you do not use iPads, iPhones, other mobile devices or NHS computers to reset your password. The browser Mozilla fire fox is the only browser you must use it can be Mozilla Firefox, which can be download from

If you reset your password before 5pm then it will update your hp account immediately which means you can log onto the SGUL networked pcs and onto Convergence mail but your "H" username for Blackboard will update overnight, so you will be able to log in to Blackboard from 9am the following day.

However if you reset your password Monday at 6pm, your hp account will be updated immediately but the H/Blackboard account will be updated from 9am Wednesday.

When entering your hp123456 username, please remember to enter the hp in lower case. Please do not use the format of your blackboard username as that is for blackboard only and can cause problems.

If the forgotten password page rejects your details, you will need to contact the CPD office to ensure your email address is up to date and that you are using the correct username. This will take a day to update on the SGUL system.

To check that we hold the correct email address for you, Please call the helpdesk with your hp number and confirm the address with us.

Thank you for watching

- They shouldn't use iPads/iPhones/other mobile devices/NHS computers to reset their passwords. They should use Mozilla Firefox, which they can download from . It would be worth specifically mentioning that they shouldn't use Internet Explorer / Safari / Opera / Chrome, as I have lost count of the number of students who assume that because we say "Firefox" that they can use whichever browser they want to!
- On the forgotten password page, they need to use their "hp" username (which is in the format of hp1234567), NOT their "H" username which they use for BlackBoard only.
- It would be worth pointing out that the "hp" is lowercase, not uppercase, like their "H" username.
- If the forgotten password page rejects their details, they need to contact the CPD office to ensure their email address is up to date and they are using the correct username. I've found the students tend to change email addresses and not update the CPD office. Once they've done that, they'll need to wait until the next day for their details to be updated on our side.
- If they reset their password before 5pm, then it will update their hp account immediately (so they can log onto SGUL PCs and Convergence), but their "H" username for Blackboard will update overnight, so they can log in to Blackboard from 9am the following day.
- If they reset their password after 5pm, their hp account will be updated immediately, but the H/Blackboard account will update the NEXT evening. (So if they reset their password on Monday at 6pm, they will be able to use Blackboard from 9am Wednesday).
Thanks,
Dave

One further thought;
If they want to check we hold the correct email address for them, they can call the helpdesk with their hp number and confirm the address with us.
