Hi and welcome to the March/April 2008 issue of “The Stitcher”
It seems to be an ongoing comment that time passes quickly. We seem to need to squeeze so much into our time these days! It has taken me a long time to begin working out, that when I am inundated, it is time to take account of what I am doing and leave go of some things. Even though they all seemed necessary at the time, when I have left some go, I realized that it lightened my load and didn’t really make any significant difference to the things I had left behind! Hence, this month, I am not sending out another Class Programme as I had intended earlier in the year. All the news I have will fit in “The Stitcher”!
This year has been a little quieter for us, I think part of this is that we have settled into working together and we are more organized than previously. Bruce has squeezed about as much shelving into the studio as one could wish him to do and it looks really great. We have a good selection of fabric displayed, a few quilts and of course many other basic items that patchworkers need!
WADDING
We have a good choice of Matilda’s Own wadding in both 240cm wide on the roll and also King size batting packs. We also have a lovely thin poly 150cm wide @ $6.50 per mtr which is proving to be popular for table cloths. At one stage most quilters were using the Wool/Poly wadding in all projects, but now many are becoming aware of the different waddings and their purposes.
A very popular one for children’s quilts is Matilda’s Own 100% Poly. It is very good quality wadding – compact just like a cotton wadding. It has some excellent properties e.g. can be washed in the machine as is if you wish to pre-wash for allergies etc and can be left unquilted for up to 10” (25cms) apart. It works out very cost effective being priced at $11.50mtr for 240cm width.

PHOTOCOPYING
As you are aware from previous newsletters, we now have own good quality photocopier. Should you be interested for yourself or your group, we have some very reasonable rates for both COLOUR and BLACK AND WHITE printing. Depending on quantity, our prices for Black and White copies vary from 10cents down to 4cents. Our colour prices vary from 80cents down to 40cents.
PATCHWORK
BLOCK OF THE MONTH 2008
Two block of the month quilts are planned for this year. The first one “Roses Fresh & Pretty” has already begun. It will be possible to join this programme for some time yet. Complete kits are also available for $115.00 (plus postage)

A second block of the month – “A Kaleidoscope of Kolor” is planned to begin in June. More news on this one in the May/June posting. The quilt is very different from “Ramblin’ Rose” and uses all “Shadow Play” fabrics
BRING YOUR GROUP TO visit OUR studio!
While we are available to visit groups with our products and specials, we have now decided that we can accommodate groups visiting us at the studio! Booking will be imperative, but we can cater for groups of up to 40 people at a time.
We are prepared to offer morning or afternoon tea or supper for an evening visit. We realize that the needs of each individual group will be different, so, if this idea appeals to you, we would love to hear from you and discuss your group’s individual needs.
