III. COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Hospitality Industry Managerial Accounting is a content course
that will provide students with the basic knowledge ofmanagerial accounting principlesin a hospitality environment.
IV. COURSE OBJECTIVES:
This course will familiarize students with the various aspects of Managerial Accounting in the hospitality industry. This course will cover various aspects of presentation, interpretation, and analysis of internal and external hospitality industry financial reports affecting financial management decisions. Topics include statement of cash flows, ratio analysis, cost concepts, costing methods, forecasting and budgeting, cash management and internal controls
V. PRE-REQUISITES
HFT 2401 and junior standing. Working knowledge of basic accounting concepts and theories applicable to the Hospitality Industry.
VI.FORMAT:
This is a 3 credit hour course that is scheduled to meet Wednesdayevenings in lecture and participative format.

- ATTENDANCE AND PRESENTATION MATERIALS
A significant amount of material presented in this class references materials in addition to the textbook. It is therefore recommended that every effort be made to attend each class session. Should you miss a class session, arrangements should be made to pick up and review the materials in the next class, from a fellow class member or via the website. A signed attendance roll will be taken for each class, before and after the break period. Credit will be given only if the roll is signed. Attendance credit will not be given for class not attended whether or not the absence is excused. You are responsible for making sure that you sign the roll before leaving for the day.

VIII. DESCRIPTION OF ASSIGNMENTS/EXPECTATIONS:
This course is designed to maximize the understanding of both
theoretical and practical aspects of managerial accounting systems
in a working environment. This can be reached through preparing the
reading assignments, completing written homework assignments,
participating in discussions, delivering a dynamic group presentation
and successful performance on exams. Written assignments may be
submitted early, but not late. Late assignments may not be accepted or
may be severely downgraded. The above assignment schedule is a tentative
schedule only. Subjects covered and dates are subject to change at the instructor’s
discretion.
1. The effectiveness of class interaction is dependent upon the
student's preparation of the topics prior to each session.
Active participation is required. Homework may be collected at the
instructor’s discretion.
2. Several unannounced quizzes will be given throughout the course. Therefore, attendance is highly recommended. Missed quizzes cannot be made up. The lowest quiz grade will be dropped and not included in the final grade calculation.
3. Exams: Will include multiple choice and written questions. Scantron forms will be required for exams. Exam dates as listed above are subject to change at the discretion of the instructor. However, should you miss an exam, make up exams will not be given. A grade equal to 50% of your final exam grade will be substituted for any exam that is missed.
4. A hand held, battery operated calculator with 6 digits is required for all in class assignments, quizzes and exams. Calculators included in cell phones will not be
permitted during quizzes or exams. You must bring your own calculator to class. Sharing of calculators during quizzes and exams is not permitted.
5. Use of cell phones during class time is not permitted. Cell phones are to be turned off and stored in backpacks or pockets.
6. Respect of your fellow classmates is expected. Unless participating in class assignments, side conversations should be held to a minimum or not be disruptive to the class. Disruptive behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances
7. Class will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m. unless circumstances dictate otherwise. Should you arrive late for class or need to leave early, please do so through the rear entrance.

XVI. ADDITIONAL ASSIGNMENTS
As of Fall 2014, all faculty members are required to document student's academic activity at the beginning of each course. In order to document that you began this course, please complete the following academic activity by the end of the first week of classes, or as soon as possible after adding the course, but no later than January 15, 2016. Failure to do so could result in a delay in the disbursement of your financial aid.
First assignment: Complete the worksheethanded out in class or printed through the website or Webcourses. This assignment is expected to be turned in at the end of class on January 13, 2016 but no later than Friday January 15, 2016. Late assignments will not be accepted.
