HLED 403 Written Assignments

You will be given topical questions to address for each written assignment. Each written assignment must be typed. The guidelines for composing the written assignment are listed below.

General Guidelines

Presentation

·  Type using a 12 point standard font, such as Times, Geneva, Bookman, Helvetica, etc.

·  Text should be single spaced on 8 1/2" x 11" paper with 1 inch margins, single sided

·  Paper length is no less than two full pages.

·  You must reference sources within the paper.

·  Stay focused on the topic of the paper

·  Use paragraphs to separate each important point

·  Indent the first line of each paragraph

·  Present your points in logical order

·  Avoid informal wording, don't address the reader directly, and don't use jargon, slang terms, or superlatives

·  Your name and date submitted.

·  Class, Institution

·  Title page contents should appear at the top of the page

·  Title page contents should be centered, title should be bolded

Body of Paper and References (bibliography)

·  Indent (5 spaces) the beginning of all paragraphs

·  Each page should be numbered after the title page

·  Page numbers should be placed in the lower right hand corner of the page.

·  You will need to list at least two outside references, in addition to your text, at the end of your written assignment.

·  Each source listed must include all of the reference information in the following order, including: 1) The name of the author; 2) The title of the article; 3) The journal/book (please use a scientific source), 4) The page numbers, and; 5) the year of publication.

·  Example:

Smith, W.M., The Myth of Sexual Stereotypes. Journal of Human Sexuality, 42(2), pp. 101-122, 2012.
