Re: An Invitation to a free Cultural Awareness Day Event organised by Croydon UNISON and Open to All –
Celebrating the Bi-Centenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade
To be held from 12.30 pm on Thursday the 18th October 2007 in the Cedar Hall, Ruskin House, 23 Coombe Road, Croydon, CRO 1BD.
We would like to invite you to all, or any, of this open public event we are organising in Black History month to celebrate Croydon’s cultural diversity and the bi-centenary of the abolition of the slave trade.
This event is free and open to all, and will demonstrate some of the advantages of being a UNISON member. You can join up on the day, if you are not already a member. Many thanks to the UNISON Regional Pool for their financial support for this event.
The event will take place on Thursday the 18th October 2007 and will begin at 12.30 pm for arrival, when lunch will be available.
It will take place at Ruskin House, in the Cedar Hall, which is located at 23 Coombe Road, Croydon, CRO 1BD.
The Draft Agenda for the event is as follows:
Lunch Time Session
12.30 Arrival and lunch;
1.00 pm Welcome from UNISON and the Black Members Group;
1.05 pm Opening address by Peter Herbert – National Chair-Person of the Society of Black Lawyers;
1.30 pm Interactive Question and Answer session;
2.00 pm End of the lunch time session;
Afternoon Session
2.30 pm to
4.30 pm Afternoon Workshops on cultural diversity, addressing islamophobia, slavery today, and others.
Evening Session
7.00 pm to
9.30 pmSpeakers, experts & Food, Refreshments
& Entertainment from 8pm.
