Here is the actual workshop breakdown, for you to know and prepare for what’s coming up next:

Workshop 1 – Introduction

Your goals:

1. Find out what this is about and what you want to get out of it.

2. Think up and discuss other ways for people to express themselves

3. Start getting comfortable with the whole photography concept.

4. Have fun!

What you’ll do:

  • Chat around issues that are all part of being young with other youth.
  • Get some info, tips and tricks on how to get what you want with a camera.
  • Start using photo-editing computer software.
  • Receive your camera and think up of a photo-concept you want to use it for.

The skills you’ll get:

You’ll know what, in your mind, makes a good or bad photo.

You’ll earn important technical skills

You’ll learn to put your ideas down and explain them clearly.

You’ll figure out how to compose and critic photography.

Workshop 2 – Analysis

Your goals:

1. You get to put to action your new technical knowledge.

2. Find out how to share your ideas with a whole team.

3. Know how to put up your work on the internet and give people from everywhere in the world the chance to check it out.

4. Have fun!

What you’ll do:

  • Hand over the camera you took your assignment with.
  • Work with the most used and professional photo-editing computer software.
  • Team up with a friend and run out with a camera for an assignment.
  • All teams present and explain their work. You get feedback from the rest of the group.
  • You upload your digital images on the internet.

The skills you’ll get:

You’ll learn to do modify your photos through computer software.

You’ll learn how to deal with working in a group

You’ll learn skills in handing in a project with a deadline.

You’ll learn how to present your work and ideas with a group.

* Don’t forget to take your photos and bring in the camera!!!

Workshop 3 – Production

Your goals:

1. Get to put to work all your new skills into one multimedia presentation.

2. Learn how to develop a multimedia project.

3. Find out how you can eventually do this on your own with available local resources.

4. Have fun!

What you’ll do:

  • You’ll receive the photos you took in between the 1st and 2nd workshop with feedbacks.
  • Once again, work with the computer software to put up the main multimedia presentation and also, your own personal presentation. (With sounds, effects, transitions, music…)
  • Collective presentation printed for display in project photo exhibit
  • You get your digital prints with feedbacks which you will, yourself, analyze.
  • Listen through hosting organizations telling you what they do best and the way they can help you do what you want to do.
  • You’ll get great tips, ideas and tools on how to put your projects or ideas to life and how to get in contact with others who are into the same things as you.

The skills you’ll get:

You’ll get to learn how to work on such project with a whole team.

You’ll be able to produce a technical project on your own.

Workshop 4 – Presentation

Your goals:

1. To get up there, share and discuss your work

2. Celebrate!

3. Realize how groups can achieve awesome things!

4. Have fun!

What you’ll do:

  • You present you personal digital image portfolio to special guests. (Organizations, partners, family, friends etc.)
  • Take part in the main group project presentation.
  • Take in your final comments and feedbacks from the guests.
  • With the group, present the final, collective multi-media presentation
  • Get inputs from participant guests, staff from TakingITGlobal, Laidlaw Foundation, YMCA and the UrbanMulti-PurposeAboriginalYouthCenters
  • Evaluate and comment this program.
