ASHHRA Leader Institute Business Proposal 2010

Career development is a cornerstone of ASHHRA’s learning and educational programming. Career development is broader and more multifaceted than ever for health care HR professionals[1]. It involves learning, and HR Delivery, Health care Business Knowledge, Community Citizenship, People Strategies, and Personal Leadership, the five competencies in the ASHHRA HR Leader Model.

This spotlight on career development has given ASHHRA the opportunity to provide effective learning tracks for all levels of the profession fostering career growth and development.

ASHHRA’s embraces the role as the resource for HR professionals who work to be valued as strategic leaders within their own organizations and the health care field.

The HR Leader Institute Strategy supports the ASHHRA Learning and Education Strategy.

A survey was conducted in early October, 2009 to help refine the goals of the Leader Institute. Key findings include:

  • 74% of respondents said price was a factor in their decision to not apply; 38% said the date, location, and two-year commitment were contributing factors
  • Less than 12% of respondents said program content was an issue
  • 40% indicated a preference for a one day program that would be held from 8 am to 5 pm
  • Sat., Sept. 24 or Tues, Sept. 28 was cited as the preferred dates in 2010
  • Most respondents felt the date of the program and participation of other industries were the most important components of the program
  • 67% of respondents said CEO approval was not needed.

Based on data collected in 2010, The ASHHRA Leader Institute will focus on senior professionals seeking to gainHR Delivery, Health care Business Knowledge, Community Citizenship, People Strategies, and Personal Leadership, important to the overall business of health care.
