In response to your recent request regarding other marine phytoplankton products on the market. As you know, over the past 7 years there have been many companies which have introduced algae products into the market and have tried to compare them to UMAC-Core Marine Phytoplankton. In some instances they have created negative based marketing campaigns to try and sway consumers and retailers. We at UMAC-Core choose not to diminish or degrade our competitors, but try and educate them on the benefits of incorporating marine phytoplankton into their daily supplement regimen.

UMAC-Core was first introduced into Canada back in 2005. There are many accounts of Tom Harper’s discovery and how the marine phytoplankton he was using for his shell fish and fin fish ultimately was converted into an ingredient used for human consumption, so, I won’t get into the details in this response. Since this date, UMAC-Core has spent millions of dollars in Clinical studies, testing and analysis, International registrations, and certifications all related to the safety and efficacy of the UMAC-Core products. It is important to note, that because UMAC-Core products are sold in Canada they are regulated by Health Canada. Health Canada has some of the strictest guidelines in the world related to Dietary Supplements and Ingredients. We are proud to be working with Health Canada and several other International regulatory institutions in order to ensure UMAC-Core adheres to the growing, harvesting and marketing regulations required to sell product in related countries.

Here are some of the key features involved in QA/QC during the growing process:

 Fisheries and Oceans Canada – This group surveys and tests the waters surrounding Canada. They constantly update via their website commercial fisheries determining whether the water is safe or not for harvesting any aquatic species from their oceans. This does include several biotoxins (even “red tide”), heavy metals, etc. Our growing facility strictly adheres to these guidelines and are required by law, to only harvest on days when there is not a risk of contamination.

 The structure of our growing facility eliminates several factors causing contamination in the ocean. Many years of research went into the construction of the facility to ensure the products produced would be safe, healthy and sustainable. There are many details about the growing facility and several times a year we conduct open house for customers, retailers and interested parties to come and view how the process is done.  The geological location of the facility offers a clean and pristine environment. In fact, National Geographic did an article on the uniqueness of the aquatic environment found off the coast of B.C. in the Straight of Georgia called “Where Currents Collide” which is precisely where our growing facility is located.

 100% ocean water is used while growing the multiple species of marine phytoplankton found in UMAC-Core. We don’t alter the Natural environment that has been producing the foundation of nutrition for this ecosystem for an estimated several billion years. This is another unique aspect of UMAC-Core marine phytoplankton, it is a natural process with great lengths taken to mimic what Mother Nature has been doing for all these years. Not change, alter or dilute what provides the highest level of nutrition for the oceans food web.

 UMAC-Core Marine Phytoplankton is a multi-species product. It is composed of more than 20+ different species. For labeling purposes, only the 3 species that comprise the major percentage of the blend are required by Health Canada to be listed on the label.

 The marine phytoplankton species found in UMAC-Core are Diatoms. Diatoms are a “brown” algae. At the end of the growth stage the tanks appear dark brown in color. This can be viewed upon visit to the growing facility.

 UMAC-Core has completed double blind Human Clinical studies on both the liquid and capsule products. It is our belief, that we are the ONLY company that has conducted such research related to their specie or blend of phytoplankton.
