PRESIDENTS’ AWARDS

The purpose of the Golf Foundation is to make the playing and personal benefits of golf available to any young person and to help them ‘Start, Learn and Stay’ in the sport. The Presidents’ Awards exist to acknowledge and reward the achievements of those working to meet these aims.

In May 2017 at the BMW PGA Championship, the nineawards listed below will be presented to individuals, organisations and projects that made a major contribution to helping young people enjoy the benefits of golf.

With the exception of the Sir Henry Cotton Award, nominationsshould relate primarily to work carried out in 2016.

INDIVIDUAL CATEGORIES

The Gallacher ‘Volunteer’ Award
Presented to a volunteer who, as a direct result of his/her efforts, has made a significant impact in the development of grass roots junior golf. / The Sinclair ‘PGA Professional’ Award
Presented to a PGA Professional who, as a direct result of his/her efforts, has made a significant impact in the development of grass roots junior golf.
The Burroughs ‘Disability’ Award
Presented to an individual who has made particular progress in golf in the face of adversity or a project that has made efforts to create opportunities for those with special needs. / The Sir Henry Cotton ‘Services to Junior Golf’ Award
Presented to an individual who has demonstrated meritorious service to junior golf for a sustained period. The winner of this award will receive a grant kindly provided by the Stanley Morrison Trust.
The Montgomerie ‘Young Volunteer’ Award
Presented to a young volunteer who has helped inspire other youngsters into golf.

PROJECT CATEGORIES

The Bonallack ‘Player Pathway’ Award
Presented to a project that has demonstrated a successful pathway from schools into club membership - ‘Start, Learn, Stay.’ / The ‘Laddie’ Lucas ‘Girls’ Award
Presented to a project that has created more opportunities for girls with a strong link to a golf club.
The Critchley ‘Community’ Award
Presented to a project that has taken golf into the community and made the sport available to any young person. / The Mackenzie ‘Skills for Life’ Award
Presented to a project that has successfully integrated Skills for Life into its work with young people.
