Newsletter - 18/2010

Hello Shipmates,

I hope that this year’s letter finds you all in good health and you are all looking forward to continued prosperity and health in 2010.

For those attending the Brisbane march there are a couple of things you need to be aware of:

  1. We step off second this year so you need to be at the marshalling point by no later than 1000. You will be able to find us in the marshalling area from around 0930. The banner will be up in William Street.
  1. Full size medals only to be worn. The Anzac Day March Committee has stated that miniatures are “out” for the march.
  1. This year the Anzac Day March Committee will not allow family members to march with veterans. If a veteran requires a carer then one (1) carer may march with the veteran. If family members wish to march in the parade then they must join the families group at the end of the march.
  1. BCC buses will be rotating from 0830 – 1030 with pick-up points at Central Station, QueensPark and Elizabeth Street to take participants to the marshalling area.
  1. All public transport on Anzac Day is free to veterans. Wear your medals so the inspectors can pick you out easily.

One of our members who passed away last year had a dream. Chris Newton wanted the Association to have a web site. That dream was realised this year by establishing with the help of Chris’s nephew, Todd Trevillion. The web site is intended to be an information resource for members and the public. The web site is now operational and over time the information will gradually build and change. We hope it will be a useful site. Our thanks go to Todd for the ongoing free use of his server and his technical advice that helped us make it happen.
