Hello RRIV Parents!

I wanted to start the season by sharing this letter with you that outlines my expectations for this exciting season:

The most important thing I want you to know is life lessons. I think volleyball, like any sport, is a tool we can use to teach kids lessons of life. Life hands us both success and failures, just as the game of volleyball does. I want your kids to learn how to handle themselves when things go well and when things do not go the way they want. We have to be good models for them. I expect my players to model good behavior and I hope you share that expectation as well!

I expect each player to be a good teammate, putting herself second to team success. I expect them to make other people around them better by working hard as an individual and challenging not only themselves, but their teammates as well. I always want my players to have FUN, but with that, I expect EFFORT. Come to every practice with a “work hard” attitude and you will see great results.

Lastly, lets please avoid gossiping/talking about our own players. At times it is very hard and almost natural to do so, but talking about other players in a negative way is harmful and not the culture I want to promote for our team.

Here are my basic policies that I expect from players:

Attendance:

I have high expectations that players will make it to every practice and tournament. However, I understand that sometimes life gets in the way! So we can arrange practice and tournament plans, I will need a minimum of 24-hour notice about any absences. The best way to contact me about absence information will be my cellphone- 701-318-4631

When it comes to practices, every player should arrive 20-15 minutes before practice and be warmed up by the time our practice is scheduled to begin so we can get started on time.

Playing Time:

Playing time will be decided based on skill, positions available and the RRIV Attendance Policy, which I will attach.

Team Rep and Web Rep:

I will be looking for two parent reps:

1) Manages team page on our website and

2) Manages communication between coach and parents.

Both options are posted under the DIBS section of our website so please read through them so you know what the roles are.

** Both parent reps will need to post their email and phone number to the forum section of our team page so other parents can communicate and contact them as needed.

** Parents should be sending pictures and videos to the web rep as they will be the only one able to add it to the team page.

Team Bonding:

Being a past athlete I know the importance of cultivating strong team chemistry. With saying that, I would like our team to have a handful of team bonding activities. I would appreciate the help from our Team Rep to plan and get the word out about team-bonding plans.

Expectations:

Being an athlete requires a lot of time and dedication. I expect that players get an adequate amount of sleep not only between practices and tournaments. I expect each player to arrive at practices and tournament days with a great attitude. In order to be your very best, it is always important to show up with a positive mindset, willing to play hard and get better with each repetition.

Lastly, I am very excited for this season and I have high expectations for what is to come! I am open to any personal questions; however, all general questions can be posted to the forum sections of our team page and I will answer them ASAP!

Let’s have a great season!
