Hello Raiders! This is Mr. Whelton calling with a few announcements for the week of January 28th- Feb 1st.

The 14th Annual Hoop Classic (Ladies) Basketball Tournament was played at RVMS thisweekend.The Raiders family welcomed teams from St. Stephen, Woodstock, Quispamsis, Rothesay Park, and Barnhill Middle School. Many of students enjoyed an opportunity to cheer on their Lady Raiders during the Tournament Tip Off game Fridayafternoon versusRothesay Park. Raider Alumni and Saint John Mill Rats player Mike Anderson joined us for the ceremonial Tip- Off. Congratulations to all of the athletes who participated this weekend and many thanks to Coach Keilty, Coach Thomas, Mr. Shiels, Mr. Carroll, Mr. Vincent, Ms. Wright and the many students and parents who pitched in over the weekend to make the tournament a huge success. In the end, QMS defeated Woodstock to take home First Place, while our Lady Raiders defeated Barnhill in the consolation game. Well done Girls!

The Hoops Classic Gentlemen’s Tournament will be hosted at RVMS on February 1st and 2nd. This will be another exciting event for the Raider Community. Stay tuned for more details.

We will be welcoming Ms. Cynthia Leblanc to the Raider Family next week. Ms. Leblanc is replacing Ms. Ann Feight who recently retired from RVMS. Cynthia will be teaching Grade 8 for the reminder of the school year.

Family Literacy day is Sunday, January 27th. Here is a link for ideas to do at home, many take less than 15 minutes

I want to remind parents and guardians that the area immediately in front of the main doors out to the traffic circle is a school bus loading zone. Students should not be picked up or dropped off in this area and vehicles are prohibited from crossing this area when buses are present. If you are picking up or dropping off students at school, please arrange to meet your son or daughter in the lower parking lot and not immediately in front of the building.

Sign In Procedure- Please be aware that we are asking all parents, guests, and volunteers to sign in an out at our school office when at the school and to use a visitor tag when in our building. All schools in ASD-S isrevisiting this process with their communities.

High School Registration time is coming up very soon.Attached is the Registration Handbook for 2013. These links have been included on the school website ,virtual school site, and our school twitter account. you can use this link to take you right to the handbook.

The Ski Club will resume this week with a trip to the mountain taking place on Thursday January 31st. There is room on the bus for any parents still interested in going with us. Call the school to book your place. $20 for transportation and $15 for a lift ticket.
