Hello Parents! We are aware that there have been several issues with accessing the online math textbooks. We are working to address the issues we can control and have notified the people who can address the other issues. Please be patient with us.

We have learned that Internet Explorer is the easiest way to open the Glencoe site. Google Chrome does work but is much slower. Once on the Glencoe site the textbooks open in Adobe Reader. Below are the links to access all of our available textbooks.

Please note that once you enter the User Name and Password the textbook opens in Adobe. The textbook works with Adobe Reader so please make sure you select that version when you open the document. This allows you to see the navigation column on the left that lists the Table of Contents & Page Navigation links. Selection of these links allows you to navigate through the textbooks.

More information is available on Mrs. Wurster’s website (go to the BCMS homepage, select Staff at the top, then Math, and Heather Wurster. Thanks for being patient as we work through the transitions.

Directions for accessing the Math Textbooks –

We just received word from Glencoe our textbook company. They state that there may need to be a few changes made to the plug-ins in Chrome to be able to use the book effectively.

Here are the steps if you want to open the book in Chrome:

1. Open Chrome and in the address bar type about:plugins

2. You will see a list of plug-ins. Make sure that Adobe Flash Player’s box is checked

3. You need to disable Chrome PDF viewer

4. Check the box that is in front of Adobe Reader

5. Close Chrome, open it back up and proceed to the books website.

6. When you type in the username and password for the book, it may tell youto install the updated patch for Adobe Reader. (If this is for the parents, this should not be a problem)

7. After this the book should work fine in Chrome with no lag.

Here are the directions for students to be able to access the book in Safari (for Macs):

The steps necessary to view Online Student Editions will be dependent upon what browser you are using. See instructions below:

Firefox:

Download the most recent version of Firefox, available at: http://www.mozilla.org

Download the latest version of Adobe Reader, available at: http://get.adobe.com/reader

Safari:

Download Schubert, a PDF Browser Plug-In which is available from http://www.schubert-it.com/downloads/. Install the plugin specific to your version of OSX.

Continue through the installation. When complete attempt to view the book again. You may be prompted for license information by Schubert. Select 'For Education Only'.

If you are still having difficulty review the steps below:

Ensure Safari is running in 32 bit mode by opening finder and search for the Safari application. Once you have located the Safari application, highlight the icon by clicking on it once, then hold the command key and the letter "I" simultaneously to open the information pop-up. Under the general tab, select open in 32 bit mode.

Set Schubert as your default PDF viewer by opening finder. Search for .PDF to locate a PDF file on your hard drive. Highlight this file by clicking on it once, then hold the command key and the letter "I" simultaneously to open the information pop-up.

**Schubert is a third party plug-in. We cannot support the installation or use of this plug-in, nor can we guarantee that it will resolve the issue in all cases.**

If accessing the site through Internet Explorer, once you open the textbook through Adobe make sure that you allow Adobe Reader to run.

When you get the textbook to open in Adobe Reader the screen will look like this

Notice the panel on the left offers choices to select and navigate through the textbook.

You can click on Table of Contents or Page Navigator to move through the book.
