Mite Parent Meeting Agenda10/25/17

Notes:

Hello Mite Families!

First, thank you to all of those who attend the parent meeting last night. Here is a review of the information that was presented last night.

-Luke discussed practice layout, games, In-house, and the WAYHA website. Luke is trying to use the WAYHA site this year in order to not send out many emails. So please check this site often for updates. Once in the site, click the teams tab on the top and then mites along the side. Don't worry, I will continue to send many email reminders :)

-As a mite, you are required to have 8 hours of maintenance in per year per family. We are doing a punch clock this year instead of logging the hours on-line. There is an opportunity On November 9th. There is a WLC 4th grade school skate. If you can help please email Emily Nikolai at and let her know. You will need to be there at 1245 until about 230. This can count for hours.

-We have teamed up once again with the high school to have them clean for us: bathrooms, upstairs, lobby, etc. To do this so we don't have to, each family will need to pay $25. Please give this to either myself or another team parent. If you paid at a different level please let me know.

-We will be handing out the raffle calendars hopefully next week. Each family is REQUIRED to sell all of their calendars. If you cannot sell all of them, you will be required to purchase them and keep selling. If you are having trouble selling all the calendars please let me know as soon as you can. We have families that are able to sell more than they get and we can get you in touch with them. This is our only fundraiser and we raise a lot of money for the rink which helps keep costs down.

-Each family will be required to sign up for 2 open skates. We are doing this through sign up genius. I will forward the link in a separate email, sorry. If you are on, make sure that someone has the key, this is kept in concessions. Remember, we need 4 people; concessions/gate, skate room, and someone one the ice and of course an adult to walk around and make sure kids are behaving.

-We will also need you to sign up for High School home hockey games. This will be 2 slots per family. I have not gotten the link yet as games do not start until December. The slots are, Concessions, gate, penalty box and clock/book. The Clock/Book is a paid position of $20 per game. Please let me know if you are willing to learn. We need more families that know how to run the clock. Penalty box consists of opening and closing the door.

-When we have our home jamborees, I will be posting a sign up sheet with slot that need to be filled, usually, concessions, clock, clean up are what are on there. If you child is a white mite, feel free to work during the blue game. This makes it nice so you can watch your skater. Once I get the schedule from Luke, I will post it.

-We have our home tournament scheduled for January 26th-28th. Please plan on being here most of the weekend. We will have a separate meeting closer to the tournament for details. Our tournament is almost full!

-Janet Mace will be handing out our brand new jerseys this Monday night! The rental cost is $25. For those new, this cost make is possible to replace the jerserys when they get worn out and we were able to replace all jerseys this year. They look really nice. We also went with a new style of sock, no more cloth white and blue socks. These socks are more of a nylon and hold up better. The cost is $25 and you will get one pair. Please have your skater upstairs as Janet needs to see what size you need. Please do not wear these socks during practice. She said to launder, turn them inside out, no bleach or fabric softener.

-If you would like to purchase apparel you have until October 31st. You can find this on the website. We will also sell again in January. If you would like to purchase a warm up jacket, pants, etc, there are forms in the lobby on the black corner table. Please fill out and give to me and I will get them to Michelle. I will need those next week also.

-We will once again do the mite of the game. This involves your mite dressing with the high school team, skating final warm ups, standing on the ice for the anthem, and being announced. I will let you know when it is your turn for this. We will most likely go in birth order.

-Pictures are Monday November 6th. Please be ready to go by 6pm. Please have your form and money ready. I will have more forms at the rink. Remember, you need 1 form per picture session. So if you want individual or with family, you need 2 forms. Feel free to include non skaters in these pictures as well!

-Chris Gusmer is our ACE director. He is over all of the coaches we have here. If you need him please feel free to contact him at

-Finally I wanted to mention the costs involved with the season so you are not surprised when they come up.
