Hello Gophers! We have had a really good start to the school year and look forward to it being a very successful year in regards to student achievement and satisfaction.

As you know we lost the override election last fall therefore we have had to make many changes to accommodate our lack of finances. We have instituted half day kindergarten and pay for supplemental kindergarten. All athletics this year will be pay to participate. It is $50 for each child in each sport. We as a district did as much as possible to keep this affordable. At the “Meet the Teacher” nights last week we had an extremely good turnout. We had available a fact sheet from the previous override. If you did not receive one of those please ask for one when you stop into the school. This is an informational pamphlet that explains the effects of the past override vote. We want everyone to be informed so they can make an educated decision for the next override in November.

Our PTO is looking for new members with our first meeting July 31st at 5:30. If you interested in helping in any capacity please call Dana Smithson. We could use a few more active members.

In August student council will be having its big annual fundraiser of cookie dough. This fundraiser is our main method of acquiring funds for all the student council projects. Please help out with this and support our school. In August, we will be having an assembly from the NED show. The NED show has been her 2 years ago and uses a fun high energy assembly to impress the attributes of effort and respect.

Again, we have stressed communication. Our teachers will try to make contact with you on a regular basis on your child’s progress especially at the K-5 level. Grades should be posted to pass on a weekly basis at the 6-8 level. We ask teachers to put together emphasis and newsworthy items for their weekly communications (k-5) and for the monthly newsletter (all grades) so you will know what is going on. We would ask that you refer to the website for calendar issues and other events of importance as we try to maintain it accurately. PTO has its own section of the website that can give you insight into their activities.

Have a great school year and go Gophers!
