Healthy Bladder and Bowel Clinic

Patient Information Leaflet

Healthy Bladder and Bowel Clinics help people who have a problem with their bladder or bowels. The clinics are nurse led and are available throughout Co. Donegal.

When you attend the clinic for the first time the nurse will assess your problem by asking questions and an examination may be offered.

All information given at the clinic will be kept confidential.

After the assessment the nurse will discuss with you options for your treatment and consult with you regarding a suitable treatment plan. Written information will also be given.

The nurse may ask you to attend the clinic again to review your treatment or telephone you at home to monitor your progress.

You will be asked, as part of your assessment, to record a diary of your fluid intake and toileting habits for a few days. It may be necessary to repeat this at some stage to review your progress.

You can contact the nurse at any time between appointments by telephone.

If you have any worries or concerns regarding the clinic and the treatment please discuss these with the nurse.

It is important to have your views on the service provided; good or bad. Comments may be given/forwarded to the Healthy Bladder and Bowel Clinic Nurse or the Continence Advisor:

As part of the service development, we may ask some people who have used the Clinic to give their opinions on the care that they have received by completing a short questionnaire. This is entirely voluntary and your name will not appear on the questionnaire unless you want it to. It will help us to learn from your experience, to assess the quality of the Clinic and to make any necessary changes to improve it.
