Healthcare Scientist in Genetics

Band 6 37.5 hours per week

Vacancies have arisen for 4 Band 6 Healthcare Scientists within the Sheffield Diagnostic Genetics Service. The first two postsare permanent positions. There are two additional posts which are temporary positions for 12 months (in the first instance) to cover leave.

Sheffield Diagnostic Genetics Service is a merged laboratory committed to the development of an interdisciplinary workforce in line with MSC. The laboratory provides specialist diagnostic services and offers a full range of constitutional and oncology tests, including cytogenetic, FISH, array, NGS and PCR methodologies.

The postholder will have the opportunity to work across genetic disciplines and develop highly marketable knowledge and skills through rotation and post registration training. Experience in both cytogenetic and molecular analysis would be highly desirable but not essential.

The successful applicant will be HPC registered or soon to be registered, will be prepared to train in new areas, an excellent communicator and a team player.

We would welcome applications from STP trainees from non genetic modalities, who have completed or are close to completing their training.
