INFORMATION

  1. Graduation Requirement
  1. Each student must successfully complete four credits in health education to graduate.
  2. Driver Education is a sophomore Health class that you will receive one credit for. NO ONE will be excused from taking the class even if you already have a valid NJ license/permit.
  1. NJ State Knowledge Exam
  1. A 50 question test made by the state will be given at the end of this course covering the contents of the NJ State Driver’s Manual.
  2. A score of 80% or above is needed to pass the NJ requirements
  3. You will receive two opportunities to pass the test. If the test is not passed after the second time, the students must take the test at the MVC. The student will keep the insufficient test grade to count for the marking period.
  1. NJ State Certificate Card
  1. This will be issued to each student upon successful completion of the Driver Education State Test
  2. Valid to TWO years
  3. If your card is lost; a duplicate card can be issued to you by your instructor
  4. This card is not your learner permit! It will help you get your permit along with the ‘six hours behind the wheel’ course taken outside school

REQUIRED MATERIALS

  1. Textbook: New Jersey Driver Manuel Required. (you must go to DMV and get a free copy)
  1. Portfolio – (3 ring binder) REQUIRED

Every student MUST keep a 3 ring binder that will include all of his or her work (handouts, notes, vocabulary, etc) given out through the semester.

GRADING
  1. Classwork and homework
  2. Group work and projects
  3. Tests and quizzes
  4. NJ State Exam
  1. Grades are calculated by a point system. At the end of the marking period, all points earned will be calculated and divided into the maximum number of points possible. Grades will be issued and viewed on Genesis. If you would like to speak about your grade see me after class or after school.
  2. All assignments give will be due at the beginning of the assigned class. Any late papers/assignments will receive 50% credit. Any late projects will lose 5 points for everyday it is late.

CLASSROOM RULES

  1. Be on time to class. You must be seated in your assigned seat when the bell rings or you will be marked late. (cell phones /electronics away when the bell rings)
  2. Raise your hand to speak or answer a question.
  3. Treat others as you want to be treated. Put downs, inappropriate comments, jokes, etc. will NOT be tolerated.
  4. No profanity or other inappropriate behavior will be tolerated.
  5. NO CELL PHONE USE! Unless permitted by the teacher.
  6. No drinking or eating in the classroom.

Consequences: You will sign for any broken rules.
