Moto for the semester:
Everyday Materials –
- Health Notebook/Folder (3 ring binder)
- Periodically checked throughout the semester
- Must include class syllabus and all class handouts/notes
- A pencil or pen (NO red ink)
Class Expectations –
- RESPONSIBILTY…
- BE ON TIME!
- Tardiness will not be tolerated
- If you are late 3 times, you will receive a lunch detention
- You must be prepared for class everyday
- Bring everything to class with you!
- Participation points will be deducted for each class that you are unprepared
- RESPECT…[How do you want to be treated?]
- Everyone’s rights, opinions, and property [classmates and teachers]
- What is said in the classroom stays in the classroom!
- Do not speak aloud unless you have raised your hand and are acknowledged [unless other rules have been specified]
- ASK QUESTIONS!
- The only dumb question is the one not asked!
- Be respective and cooperative with substitute teachers
- If you cause problems, disciplinary actions will be taken
- I will be in the classroom every MORNING, if you have any questions or need to talk, please stop by!
Class Activities –
- May include but are not limited to
- Interactive lessons, discussions, videos, guest speakers, small group activities, role playing, problem solving activities, current events, computer lab activities, etc.

- Emotional/Mental Health
- Diseases and Disorders
- Alcohol, Tobacco, and other drugs
- Family Health and Sexuality
- Nutrition and Fitness
- Communicable and Non-communicable Diseases & Illnesses
Grading –
- The following components will determine your class grade:
- Attendance – 15%
- Participation/Preparation - 15%
- Quizzes/Tests – 35%
- Homework/class work – 20%
- Projects – 15%
- Final Grade = Marking Period 1 & 2 [75%] + Final Exam [25%]
Assignments –
- MUST BE HANDED IN ON TIME!
- Written assignments need to have the proper heading at the top of the page
- Name, Date, Class Period, Assignment
- If assignment is not typed, it needs to be written legibly and completed to the best of your ability
Homework Policy –
- MUST BE HANDED IN ON TIME!
- Homework is due at the beginning of the class period ON THE DUE DATE!
- Late assignments will be graded on the following scale…
- 75% = 1 day late
- 50% = 2 days late
- 25% = 3 days late
- 10% = 4+ days late
- FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!
- Students will be assigned to guided study hall the day following the due date of the assignment if it has not been handed in!
Testing Policy – [PENCIL!]
- Quizzes will be given periodically throughout the semester (both announced and unannounced)
- If a student receives an 80% or below on a test, he/she will be required to make test corrections receiving 50% back for each question corrected, to ensure the student has learned the correct content.
Absent Students –
- You will be given one day to make up any missed work for every excused absence
- 1 day absent – 1 day to make up work
- 2 days absent – 2 days to make up work
- If a student is absent during a test/quiz, it will be his/her responsibility to make it up on the day they return to school unless told otherwise.
- IT IS THE STUDENT’S RESPONSIBILITY TO SEEK OUT THE TEACHER FOR MISSED CLASS ASSIGNMENTS AND NOTES!
- Absent students are responsible for all work that is done in class in which they have missed!
