The New Year

It has been great to welcome back the children and staff to school after the Christmas break, and two weeks into the new term, everyone has worked hard and are back into the swing of things, Though it is only a 5 week half-term, it is a busy one!

We welcome three new children to John Cross, Megan in Yr1, Arslan in Yr3 and Emma in Yr 6. I’m sure everyone will make them feel welcome and it’s great to see the John Cross family growing.

The school website now has curriculum jigsaws in the curriculum section, showing what the children are studying this half term, enabling you to support school work at home.

Education Sunday

Education Sunday will be taking place in School on Sunday 29th January at 10.45am. This is an important occasion when we celebrate the work of our children, staff and governors so therefore we would like as many children as possible to attend.

SATS Booster Sessions

The national KS2 SATs tests for all Year 6 children in England will take place during week commencing 8th May 2017. In order for the children to be confident and ready for the tests, and in addition to booster sessions already provided during the school day, Mrs Bryson will be running after-school booster sessions on Tuesdays from 3.15-4.15pm. The first session will be held on 24th January, and sessions will continue until SATs week. These sessions will allow the children to revise recent Y6 work and to focus on any areas of the English and Maths curriculums that they need to concentrate on.

Attendance/Punctuality

Please ensure that your child attends school on time every day. Good attendance does make a significant difference to the progress that your child will make at school. Children are expected to be lined up on the yard at8.45am. Thank you for supporting us with this.

New Speed Limit

The speed limit has recently been reduced through Bilsborrow to 30mph from 40mph. This is great news for the safety of our children, and will hopefully make it less hazardous crossing the A6 for all of us.
