Head of Central Operations

Pay scale: 50 - 56

Description of Role

The Head of Central Operations manages all aspects of the central support functions in order to maximise sales and profit within Sense Trading, taking overall responsibility for the smooth running and efficiency of these departments.

Key responsibilities

1.1  To Take overall responsibility for the smooth running of all the trading support functions

1.2  To maintain the continuous evolution of all trading contracts with 3rd parties to ensure they are appropriate and represent good value.

1.3  To take overall responsibility for the administration offices and all trading warehouse premises, ensuring that good communication, morale and efficiency are maintained at all times.

1.4  To maintain an innovative approach to new areas of business, keeping abreast of developments in the industry, economy, legislation and competition. Making recommendations for changes based on sound research when necessary.

1.5  To assist with the overall management of Sense Trading especially in areas of financial control, budgeting, strategy and operations.

Specific responsibilities

2.1  To take overall responsibility for the maximization of stock donations to Sense

2.2  To take overall responsibility for ensuring that the supply and quality of bought-in merchandise is maintained in line with budget and forecast whilst maintaining appropriate margins.

2.3  To take overall responsibility for all aspects of the central administration, maintaining a high standard of accuracy in all areas.

2.4  To take overall responsibility for Sense’s Online Trading activity ensuring that sales and listing targets are met and that profit levels are maintained.

2.5  To take overall responsibility for all aspects of the distribution and warehouse network, ensuring that safety and efficiency are maintained at all times.

2.6  To take the lead in preparing budgets for agreement with the Trading Director and Finance department, ensuring accuracy in all areas of budget preparation and managing the time line.

General Management:

3.1  To undertake from time to time specific internal / external projects.

3.2  To be prepared to stay overnight on Sense business and travel nationwide

3.3  To fulfill whatever mutually agreed additional duties are deemed to be necessary.

3.4  To carry out annual appraisals in line with current practices

3.5  To build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues throughout the organization

3.6  To attend company meetings as required and to fully participate with information, opinion and idea

3.7  Effectively manage all HR related issues ensuring swift conclusion and full compliance with all policies and procedures
