Have you investigated the benefits that can come from renewable power?

Due to popular demand from farmers and land owners in and around Bodmin Moor,Cornwall Development Company’s Bodmin Moor Livestock Initiative (BMLI) have arranged for a Renewables Event to take place on the Thursday 1st September. The title of the event is;Have you investigated the benefits that can come from renewable power?The event will kick off at 4.30pm,followed by a BBQat approximately 7.00pm. The venue is Coldrenick Farm Offices, Helland, Bodmin.

Andrew Williams from Lanhydrock Farms will open the event and outline the findings ofhis Rural Development Programme for England (RPDE) feasibility study. This will allow participants to gain some understanding of the background and the developments that have taken place within the Photovoltaic (PV) sector over the last 6 months to reduce the feed in tariff for large installations, and where the renewable sector is going post April 2012 when the tariffs are set to be reduced.

BMLI have also invited other speakers who are as follows:

Mike Field - Natural Generation – A short presentation on affordable wind turbines that can provide sustainable power in remote areas.

James Wilder – River-power – A short presentation on Micro-Hydro systems. Have you got a location that can potentially produce small scale hydro power?

Eco-energies – Based at (the same site) Coldrenick Farm Offices – A short presentation on small scale PV panel installation on agricultural/domestic roofs.

Gage Williams – South West Renewables – Identifying the merits of the <50kW dual axis ground-mountedtracker solar systems.

Chris Daly from Cornwall Councilwill also be present to speak about planning related issues.

Eco-energies will have an ‘open house’ for participants to come in and view their showroom on the same site, demonstrating air source heat pumps, ground source heat pumps and solar thermal systems. Natural Generation, Peninsula Renewable and River-Power will have small stands presenting their businesses.

Bodmin Moor Livestock Initiative

The Bodmin Moor Livestock Initiative, managed by Cornwall Development Company, is part of a wider South West Uplands Initiative. Funded by the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) the project’s role is to work with all those that have an interest in livestock production, to develop and deliver a strategic action plan for continued growth in sustainability in the livestock sector. They also work with the industry to help them access the funding and support available from the RDPE.
