Harford County Day Camp has always had a great response with volunteers. We are sure that this year will be no exception. There is a special reward to working with children in the out of doors. Without our volunteer staff there is no Harford Area Girl Scout Day Camp. Every Girl Scout event requires adult participation and work.
All staff members are required to attend the mandatory planning and training events:

Mandatory Combined Staff Training / NEW volunteers need to attend this meetingin order to receive information about volunteering at Harford Area Day Camp and details about this years fun filled theme and all the new things we have going. We would like volunteer paperwork submitted at thismeeting or mail in by March 1st in order to start our scheduling for the amount of campers we can accept.

This training will provide information on camp organization and program. It will be the first opportunity to meet the other adults and Camp Guides with whom you will be working.

New Volunteers will need to attend the whole day. Returning Volunteers will have a shortened mandatory day. / This will be an orientation to camp and specific Day Camp skills training. We will also provide a dinner to show our appreciation for everything our volunteer’s do. The evening will be an opportunity for unit leadership teams to begin to finalize their unit’s program plans.

Breakdown and Cleanup / Each unit is responsible for setting up their unit’s campsite. Each unit may also be assigned a task to help in the set up of the program areas and general camp housekeeping.
For new campers that would like to see camp before camp begins.
Come have the time of your life!!
All units will be responsible for breaking down their unit’s campsite. This should not take away from girl’s program time on Friday. Please try to schedule to stay late or come back on Saturday morning.
Training Sessions are mandatory – You may not be able to work camp if you miss any of the training sessions and your daughter may lose her place in camp. In addition to these dates, each unit leader will need to schedule time with your unit team to finalize plans for the week. Please contact the camp director if you are not able to attend a training session.

Directions to Camp Conowingo- Chimney Trail/Bell Manor
US Route 1. North Travel across Conowingo Dam. Turn left onto Route 222. Turn left onto Old Conowingo Road. At the first stop sign, continue straight on Pilot Town Road. Camp Shadowbrook will be on the left after Conowingo Creek. For Camp Chimney Trail / Bell Manor, proceed to Bell Manor Road and turn left. Entrance toChimney Trail/ Bell Manor is about ½ mile on the left. Follow camp road to parking area behind Bell Manor.
Tag-a-longs – Day Camp provides camp units for sons (1st – 6th grades) and tots 3 ½ - 5 years old that are toilet trained (absolutely no diapers). Children who attend these programs will participate in games and other activities and will be supervised by trained adult volunteers and Camp Guides. The fee for tag programs is $25 per child. Tag-a-long applications are available at the February training and on our website. The completed tagalong application along with completed Health History and transportation form and fee for each tag is due with your volunteer application paperwork. Children should also be listed on the Adult Registration form. NOTE: you must volunteer at camp and be present at camp in order to have a child in the tag-a-long unit.
Set-Up/Breakdown Help Needed: Would you like to help but cannot be at camp during the week? We need help in setting camp up and taking it down. A partial camper rebate will be given once camp is over. Sign up at in-person registration!

A Tag-a-long Unit is available for children of staff members. There is a $25 fee for each tag-a-long. Tag-a-longs must be at least three and a half years of age and toilet trained. An older boy unit is also available (over 5 years of age). A separate application and health history form is required for each tag-a-long. Names listed will be an additional cross-reference for scheduling purposes.

AGREEMENT
I hereby apply to be a staff member at the Harford Area Day Camp from June 22-26, 2015. I will attend the mandatory training sessions as outlined on the Volunteer Information Sheet and will participate in Camp setup and breakdown. I agree to arrive at camp before 8:30 each morning to prepare for my assigned job. I also agree to comply with the camp dress code, which is:
A hat or bandanna covering the head (no visors)
A shirt that covers the shoulders
Sturdy closed-toe shoes or sneakers with socks that cover at least the ankle
I authorize the Girl Scouts to use photographs or videos taken of me for the purpose of promoting the interest or telling the story of Girl Scouts.
